Colin Kaepernick has had a lot of problems over the last five years, and he brought all of it on himself. Many believe his deciding to kneel before the American flag during the playing of our national anthem destroyed the National Football League (NFL) because attendance is down but especially, television viewership is at an all-time low because of what the former NFL quarterback started.

Kaepernick has a new special out on Netflix, where he likens being an NFL player to slavery. Yes, you heard that right, and the Internet brutally ridiculed the comparison.

“Colin in Black and White” is a 6 part docudrama series on Netflix “recounting his formative years navigating race, class, and culture while aspiring for greatness.”

The series will depict “Kaepernick’s life growing up as the black adopted son in a white family living in Turlock, California, as well as social commentary discussing the history of racism within professional sports,” according to IndieWire.

The former 49ers QB’s special debuted on Netflix on Friday. Though it took two weeks for Kaepernick’s kneeling to be noticed enough to question him on it, there was one scene that was ripped on social media the very next day.

The scene showed Kaepernick walking around at an NFL training camp. Hamming it up, Kaepernick points to NFL coaches and looks into the camera and says, “What they don’t want you to understand is what’s being established is a power dynamic.”

At this point you come to realize that Colin has figured out no NFL teach will touch him. A little over two weeks ago, I wrote a story about Kaepernick going around saying he is still training every day to be ready in case a team calls him for a tryout. If he thinks a team will call him now, then he is way more delusional than I thought. In fact, many will see this special and think Kaepernick is now intentionally trying to destroy the league and not just some race-card antics to save his job because of poor performance.

“Before they put you on the field, teams poke, prod, and examine you,” the theatrical Kaepernick says. “Searching for any defect that might affect your performance. No boundary respected, no dignity left intact.”

The players in the scene are all black, even though 24.9% of NFL players are white and go through the same process. As the black players leave a football field, they walk back to a staged slave auction with a cotton field background with white slave owners going over the slaves, examining them while they are in chains.

During the examination, you see one slaver owner with a slave, both alone standing on the stage, and as the auctioneer looks at the slave’s arms, there is a cutaway to a clip of a modern-day football coach checking out the length of a black football player’s arm reach.

The scene then makes the most disgusting leap by having a slave owner shake hands with a modern-day football coach.

All sports are this way and there’s nothing undignified about it. Athletes understand they are competing for a coveted spot on a team that will bring them fame and fortune.

There are 1,696 player slots that make up the NFL’s active rosters. As of 2020, there are 329.5 million people living in the United States. Instead of looking at the screening process to be likened to a slave auction, the truth of the matter is there are so few slots available for the entire league and out of nearly 330 million people, the slots get filled with the best of the best. The players who make it onto an NFL team are just that. They are the best of the best in the world for what they do, and that is a compliment, not the ultimate insult.

The bigger question is, how does this fantasy world of Kaepernick’s play out with white NFL players (about 24.9% of the league as of 2020) who have to go through the same screening process? Black NFL players make up 57.5% of the league.

The ludicrous clip was annihilated on social media for trivializing slavery in America by comparing it to athletes who work extremely hard to fight to get a coveted spot on an NFL team and make millions of dollars for playing the game. Kaepernick himself earned over $43 million in the six years he played for the NFL.

Congressman Burgess Owens, a Super Bowl winning champion NFL player who also is black, took to social media to give Kaepernick a piece of his mind.

Kaepernick’s special seems to be the culmination of what can happen when a rich, spoiled brat who played the race card to make it harder for his team to drop him over his own poor performance teams up with the powerful studios of the woke Netflix enterprise. Talk about conspiracy theories run amok. Give him a participation trophy, then tell him we’re all winners, and that will be that.
