Shannon Brandt, the 41-year-old man who is being accused of running down a teenager over a supposed “political argument” pleaded with the judge to not hold him on bail, arguing that he didn’t want to lose his job, his house or his family because of the high amount of bail.
No amount of money will buy the teenager’s life back. Rot in jail, you SOB. Just think, if he had killed the teenager in New York City, he would have been out that night with no bail.

On Monday, during a hearing, Brandt said he didn’t understand the charges against him and then criticized the amount of bail, arguing that he was not a flight risk.
“I have a job, a life and a house and things that I don’t exactly want to see go by the wayside — family that are very important to me,” he said, according to Fox News Digital. Then he shouldn’t have killed someone.
Brandt was arrested on Sunday after he called 911 to report that he had hit a pedestrian who he alleged was threatening him.

“Brandt admitted to State Radio that he hit the pedestrian and that the pedestrian was part of a Republican extremist group.”
It’s interesting that President Joe Biden on September 1 stood outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia and gave his #pedoHitler speech where he labeled Trump supporters as “MAGA Republicans” and declared they are “extremists” and a threat to our republic.
“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”
Now, all of a sudden, this guy says he ran over someone he was in a political argument with because he thought he was a member of a “Republican extremist group.” Yeah, and I’m Mary, Queen of Scots. I can see the Democrats supporting him and then it’s open season for harming Trump supporters.
First responders found Ellingson at the scene of the homicide and transported him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies who responded to the scene tracked Brandt to his home in Glenfield, about 12 minutes away from the scene.
Brandt allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol prior to running Ellingson over and then leaving the scene of the crime.
Unfortunately, this is probably not going to be tried as a crime because it is part of the vehicular code. His lawyer will probably argue that it was a car accident. I think he used an assault vehicle to kill Ellingson. If he had slipped and plunged a knife into his victim instead, would they call it a cutlery accident?
Brandt said he called 911 after returning to the scene of the crime where he killed an 18-year-old, but then left the scene once again prior to police arriving.
Police made Brandt undergo a breathalyzer test that resulted in a blood alcohol level above the legal limit of 0.08.
Ellingson called his mother before Brandt hit him with his assault vehicle, according to court documents. He asked his mom if she knew who Brandt was and she said yes and that she was coming to pick him up.
Not long after that, Ellingson called his mom back and told her that he was chasing him. That was the last time she heard from her son.
A GoFundMe was started by a family friend for Ellingson’s parents for his funeral expenses. It describes the 18-year-old as a “wonderful young man” who had “his whole adult life ahead of himself.”
“So much stripped away from himself and from his family,” Nicole Clifton Geiszler posted. “They now have to endure a path no parent wants, no parent should have to endure. His innocent life he had yet to look forward to and live for. His parents will never see their young son graduate college, get married or have grandchildren.”
