During a recent city council meeting, William J. Kelly, an Emmy award-winning TV personality, and radio and print journalist, gave a stinging address to Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. Kelly accused Lightfoot of withdrawing his media credentials for asking “obvious questions” regarding crime in the city and urged for the mayor and police superintendent to relinquish control of the media credentialing process to the Constitution.
The Left considers him a right-wing Jim Acosta, but the difference is that, unlike Acosta, Kelly asks very pertinent questions in a sober fashion, and he did the one thing that Democrat politicians do not tolerate. He asked her questions concerning her own incompetence in office. And they were very legitimate questions because she has been a very legitimate incompetent in office.

That should never happen in a free country,” Kelly remarked.
A federal judge dismissed journalist William Kelly’s case against Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot in 2022, accusing Lightfoot of wrongfully removing Kelly’s press credentials in July 2021. Kelly’s First Amendment freedom of the press argument, as well as his 14th Amendment equal protection and due process claims, were all dismissed.
Technically, she did the same thing based on her own personal racist demeanor when she announced that she would not longer grant interviews to white reporters, only people of color.
Kelly, on the other hand, received his comeuppance today.
Kelly went on to criticize Lightfoot’s management of the COVID-19 outbreak, the closure of schools, churches, and businesses, and the damage he says she has caused Chicago.
“You became mayor, the people of Chicago elected you. You shut down our schools, you shut down the churches, you shut down the businesses. You did the one thing that I thought could never happen. As somebody who was born and raised on the south side of Chicago, I never thought in my life that I would ever see the city of Chicago brought down so low as you have managed to bring it down,” he added.
“Shame on you. That is a legacy that you are going to have to carry. Future historians are going to have a hard time understanding how you ever even became mayor of the city of Chicago. I intend to write that book.”
He even referred to Lightfoot as a “pandemic” and advised her to leave the city.
“I intend to make sure that at least there is some possible way for the city of Chicago to move forward. I hope that you realize what damage you have done to the city,” Kelly concluded.
“I hope that after today’s city council meeting, you will pack your suitcase and get the hell out of my city. You are a pandemic. You are a pandemic.”
