Last week, a man suspected of stealing at the Willow Grove Park Mall leaped over a second-floor railing and was hurt by the impact of his fall as he attempted to flee the scene, according to Abington Township police.
The event occurred last Friday at 7 p.m. in the Montgomery County Mall.

A witness on the third level of the mall recorded the man’s fall in a video that has since gone viral on the internet. After landing on the ground floor, the man attempted to stand up and enter another store, but he was unable to do so.

“I don’t know what his thought process was, but he decided to jump over the railing,” said Abington Police Deputy Chief Ed Quinn on Thursday. The mall is patrolled by a specialized officer from the police department.
Quinn declined to name the suspect until he was formally charged, but he is expected to face robbery and theft charges.
The injured man is still in the hospital.
