Austin may be the capital of Texas, but it’s not considered a part of Texas by many Texans. The city has been ruled by leftist Democrats for years, and the shape the city is in now shows all the mileage that brings.
Let’s start with Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza, who was sponsored by George Soros‘s PAC, and has a soft-on-crime, and tough-on-cops. Not a good combination for city harmony.

In addition to going after people who are protecting themselves, he has pushed a record number of indictments of police officers.
Criminals are ignoring court orders and Garza doesn’t go after them.

Garza is a modern-day Robin Hood if Robin Hood had no moral compass and a perverse understanding of justice. What cop in their right mind would want to work in a city with such a DA? There aren’t many.
It’s been two years since Austin police stopped responding to non-emergency calls due to a shortage of officers.
Imagine how much crime has increased since then. It is no different from what is going on in California with shoplifting. Once the state voted to make any thefts under $950 a misdemeanor, we now have Walmart, Walgreens, and other retailers leaving due to the increase in shoplifting. The moral of the story is if you want crime to increase, go soft on it and watch it happen.
It’s grown so terrible in Austin that they’ve been forced to redefine what constitutes an emergency call.
Being attacked and robbed isn’t on their list.
They’ve even added a new phone number to which you can call and be utterly ignored.
Being beaten and bloodied by a robber? Call 3-1-1.
Even if you are cautious & follow all the safety advice, you may still become the unfortunate victim of a robbery. Do you know what your next steps should be?

But you better not defend yourself, otherwise, DA Jose Garza will charge you as well.
Having said that, the Austin Police Department wants us to know that they are actively seeking new recruits. Ha!
In the aftermath of the death of St. George Floyd, the patron saint of quality Nike footwear with a five-finger-discount, Austin reduced its police budget in a “defund the police” catastrophe, resulting in the loss of hundreds of officers. But now, in 2023, they’ve approved the largest police budget in history.
Yet there is no money in the budget for more officers on the street because the increase in the budget is all going toward administrative overhead. Clearly, what Austin needs now are fancier office chairs and perhaps a new set of rainbow decals to adorn their patrol cars.
This PRIDE month, @Austin_Police unveiled its newly designed PRIDE car that represents all aspects of the LGBTQ+ Community. The vehicle is wrapped in beautiful bright colors, featuring APD Safe Place and the #NOH8 logos! Happy PRIDE month to all who are celebrating. pic.twitter.com/07972OX2cN

One can only hope that the brilliant hues of the Pride-themed cars can somehow deter crime, or at the very least, bring a splash of color to the citizens’ inevitable misery.
Maybe during a robbery in progress, one of Austin’s finest will drive up to the scene and the robber will become incapacitated because he fell down and can’t stop laughing. Hey, it could happen. Until then, stay safe, stay vigilant, and stay out of Austin.
