- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until meat is browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
- To assemble, spread a layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer with 4 lasagna noodles, half of the ricotta cheese mixture, and a layer of meat sauce. Repeat layers. Top with remaining noodles, meat sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
