Well, well, well—look who’s finally facing some consequences. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth just handed retired General Mark Milley the political equivalent of a pink slip: no more security clearance, no more security detail, and a big ol’ question mark on whether he even gets to keep his four-star rank. Ouch.
According to senior defense officials, Hegseth personally informed Milley that he’s revoking his personal security detail and suspending his security clearance—a move that’s sure to send shockwaves through the DC swamp. Hegseth also wants a full-blown review board to determine if Milley’s rank should be stripped because of his shenanigans at the end of Trump’s first term.

“The Secretary informed General Milley today that he is revoking the authorization for his security detail and suspending his security clearance as well. The Secretary has also directed the DoD IG to conduct an inquiry into the facts and circumstances surrounding Gen Milley’s conduct so that the Secretary may determine whether it is appropriate to reopen his military grade review determination.”
Translation: Milley, we’re cleaning house, and you might not even get to keep your fancy stars.
Security Detail? Gone.
Milley originally got a personal security detail after the U.S. military took out Iranian terror mastermind Qasem Soleimani in 2020. Since Iran wasn’t exactly sending Hallmark cards after that, Milley was assigned extra protection. But apparently, that VIP treatment has now expired.

Now, why is Milley suddenly persona non grata at the Pentagon? Well, let’s go through his greatest hits.
According to multiple books (because DC insiders love a tell-all), Milley was doing everything in his power to work against Trump behind the scenes. And not just in a subtle, “I disagree with him” kind of way—more like actively scheming against a sitting president, the commander-in-chief.
The book The Divider spills the tea on how Milley almost resigned in June 2020, but then had a stroke of genius:
“F-ck that shit. … I’ll just fight him,” he reportedly said.
“If they want to court-martial me, or put me in prison, have at it. … But I will fight from the inside.”
Oh yes, because that’s exactly what the U.S. military needs—a general treating his own Commander-in-Chief like an enemy combatant. What a jackass.
Secret Meetings & Cozy Chats with Pelosi
Milley also allegedly chatted it up with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, reassuring them that he wouldn’t let Trump “deploy the machinery of war for domestic political ends.” Funny how these guys were totally fine with deploying the machinery of war overseas for decades, but that’s another topic.
And then there’s this gem: Milley secretly called military branch heads together to “resist dangerous political schemes” from the White House. You know, like a full-on rogue general in a bad Tom Clancy novel.
According to reports, Milley was also buddying up with former Obama advisor Susan Rice and straight-up calling Trump the ‘enemy’ to the Biden administration’s Pentagon transition official. Totally normal, right?
Oh, and let’s not forget Peril, the Bob Woodward book that claims Milley was making secret calls to China.
“He called his Chinese counterpart twice, telling him that the U.S. did not plan to strike China and that he would give him advance notice before any strike.”
So, let’s get this straight—he was literally telling China that he’d warn them before an attack. I mean, at this point, was he also faxing them our nuclear codes?
The Pentagon Purge Begins
Pentagon Chief of Staff Joe Kasper laid it out plain and simple:
“Undermining the chain of command is corrosive to our national security, and restoring accountability is a priority for the Defense Department under President Trump’s leadership.”
And they’re not stopping at just yanking Milley’s security clearance. The Pentagon has already started removing his portraits from the building. The first one got ripped off the wall on Inauguration Day—just ten days after it was put up. Another one is set to be taken down by Tuesday.
Milley’s Legacy: Rogue General or Swamp Hero?
So, what’s next for Milley? Well, if that review board decides to strip him of his rank, he’ll go from four-star general to just another retired officer with a scandalous legacy. And honestly, if even half of these reports are true, it’s amazing he lasted this long.
One thing’s for sure: this isn’t the “retirement” Milley was hoping for, but it’s the one he most certainly deserves.
