A Festive Feast – Classic Christmas Roast with All the Trimmings: RECIPE

Ingredients:

• 1 whole turkey (about 12-14 lbs)
• 2 cups stuffing
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
• 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
• 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
• Salt and black pepper to taste
• 4 cups chicken broth
• 3 lbs potatoes, peeled and quartered
• 1/2 cup milk
• 2 cups green beans, trimmed
• 2 cups carrots, sliced
• 1/2 cup cranberry sauce

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
2. Rinse the turkey and pat dry. Loosen the skin and spread butter under it. Sprinkle with thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper.
3. Place the turkey in a roasting pan, and pour 2 cups of chicken broth into the pan. Cover with foil and roast for 2 hours.
4. Remove the foil and continue roasting for another 1-2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
5. For the mashed potatoes: Boil the potatoes until tender, drain, and mash with milk, salt, and pepper.
6. Steam the green beans and carrots until tender.
7. Serve the turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots, and cranberry sauce.
