Border crossings have decreased by 50% since Title 42 ended, according to Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. But then again, Alejandro Mayorkas is a complete liar.
On Sunday, Mayorkas said on CNN’s State of the Union, “Over the past two days, the United States Border Patrol has experienced a 50% drop in the number of encounters versus what we were experiencing earlier in the week before Title 42 ended at midnight on Thursday.”
Mayorkas believes it is too early to tell whether the predicted spike has crested. According to him, the US Border Patrol counted 6,300 people on Friday and around 4,200 on Saturday. He noted that earlier in the week, the figure was approximately 10,000.
The Biden appointee also appeared on ABC’s “This Week” with anchor Jonathan Karl on Sunday morning.
Mayorkas told Karl that he “respectfully disagrees” with a judge’s ruling, criticizing a DHS program that permitted some illegal migrants to be discharged without a court date due to overcrowding. That means they were given a de facto amnesty because everyone knows that none of them ever show up for a hearing, anyway. It’s as if the administration is giving up on the appearance of following procedures and our immigration laws.
Mayorkas ascribed the startling data he provided to both fake news outlets to “months and months” of preparing in advance of the conclusion of Title 42. He also said that communication initiatives emphasizing “consequences” such as possible deportation and a five-year restriction on returning had contributed to the tide’s slowing.

Before the administration’s “official” dog whistle went out, NBC did a random act of journalism and reported that “Title 42’s end drawing record number of illegal border crossings.”

Over the last few days, DHS has been tweeting short videos advising migrants heading to the border that the border is closed. Several tweets were sent out in Haitian Creole and Spanish. But what good will that do when the migrants come across anyway?
Title 42 is a Trump-era administration policy that allows incoming migrants to be denied entrance due to the COVID outbreak. Title 42 came to an end on Thursday. In the days preceding its end, social media was flooded with videos of Texas officials hidden behind concertina wire. Migrants, some carrying little children, can be seen scrambling up the riverbank on the other side of the homemade obstacles.
“The asylum system has been and continues to be a jewel of the United States,” Mayorkas said on CNN when questioned about the Democratic Party argument about how restricted the US should be when it comes to asylum petitions. But there are no wars and no persecution by the governments of these people in the countries south of the border. And people coming through the southern border from the island of Hispaniola (Haiti) is just a bad joke.
“The cartels, the smuggling organizations, control the land. And so we have not only a security imperative but a humanitarian responsibility to cut those smugglers out. And that’s precisely what we, as an administration, [have] done,” he added, adding that over 10,000 smugglers had already been apprehended.
Mayorkas should be impeached and removed. Under his leadership, over 6 million illegals have entered the country and they don’t know where most of them are. The things that this administration has done to bring illegals into the country are appalling. Remember when they flew illegals out of Texas to destinations unknown across the country in the middle of the night like Pablo Escobar’s drug deliveries? They now give them a goodies bag complete with a Biden phone to send them text messages to give instructions of where to go and probably how to vote.

One thing that Biden administration officials can count on at CNN is their hosts asking leading positive questions to help the guest frame the segment in their favor. And sometimes they cleverly ask questions that may seem to some to be pushback, but what they’re really doing is throwing softballs at the administration official so they can knock it out of the park. They do the exact opposite with Republican administration officials. It’s all a sham.
I don’t know what math Mayorkas is using but border crossings have not gone down 50%. If anything, they’ve doubled by the reporting on the ground at the southern border.
