David Brooks delivered a speech last month at the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship, and as always, it was a showcase of his trademark elitist posturing. A New York Times columnist, and a commentator on the PBS News Hour, Brooks loves to parade himself as the paper’s token conservative—but the moment he opens his mouth, it becomes painfully clear that he is anything but. In reality, he’s an establishment elitist who fancies himself a conservative while harboring a deep disdain for Donald Trump.
His speech centered on how the elite have rigged society and why it’s now unraveling. Most of it wasn’t particularly compelling, but one part stood out—his attempt to redefine who Donald Trump really is.
Brooks claimed that many Americans mistakenly see Trump as a populist, arguing instead that his Ivy League background and billionaire status place him firmly within the elite. He lumped Donald Trump in with Elon Musk, pointing out that both attended the University of Pennsylvania and both became billionaires. He also rattled off a list of other prominent figures—J.D. Vance (Yale), Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth (Princeton, Yale), Stephen Miller (Duke), and Laura Ingraham (Dartmouth)—as if an Ivy League education automatically disqualifies someone from being a populist.
Brooks attempted to argue that these individuals represent “the educated elite,” but that’s where his reasoning immediately fell apart. They don’t embody the so-called educated elite—if they did, they’d be left-wing a-holes, which they clearly are not. The ever-pompous Brooks refuses to accept that someone can be both highly educated and a populist, a perspective that reeks of leftist snobbery if we’ve ever seen one.
In the video, Brooks argues that MAGA isn’t “pro-conservative”, but rather “anti-left.” He claims they lack a positive, conservative vision for society and are instead focused solely on destroying the institutions now controlled by the left. He then takes it a step further, dismissing them outright by saying, “And this means, they are astoundingly incompetent.”
Rounding up hundreds of violent criminal illegal aliens and deporting them in less than two months to protect the American people is hardly a sign of incompetence. Likewise, auditing federal agencies and uncovering over $2 trillion in waste, fraud, and abuse—corruption that likely persisted for decades—is anything but inept. The real incompetence here isn’t in these actions; it’s in David Brooks’ complete miscalculation of what incompetence actually looks like.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNELI wouldn’t call Brooks a conservative either—he’s a neo-conservative, through and through. His ties to the movement are clear, having joined the neo-conservative Weekly Standard when it launched in 1994. Later, he even edited an anthology titled Backward and Upward: The New Conservative Writing, further cementing his place within that ideological camp. And yet he hides the “neo” of his background.

Enter Vice President J.D. Vance, stage right. Vance gave a speech at the American Dynamism Summit on Tuesday where he completely destroyed Books’ arguments about populists wanting to destroy institutions and not build anything.
Vance told the audience of entrepreneurs that they now have an administration in Washington that is working with them rather than against them by making it harder for them to innovate their businesses.
He went on to say that innovators shouldn’t be afraid of artificial intelligence (AI) and that as productive Americans, we shouldn’t be afraid of productive new technologies. He denounced the idea that the tech-forward people and the populist folks are somehow going to inevitably come to loggerheads because the reality is that in any dynamic society, technology is going to advance. he argued that in a healthy economy, technology should be something that enhances rather than supplants the value of labor, and that he believes there is too much fear that AI will replace jobs rather than augmenting so many things that we do.

David Brooks’ entire narrative boils down to the same tired Orange Man Bad routine, fueled by his chronic case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. His claim that Trump and his administration are destroying left-wing institutions is laughable—those institutions were already wrecked by the left long before Trump came along. What Trump and his team, particularly the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), are actually doing is cutting out the rampant fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer dollars while cleaning up the chaos the left inflicted on the American people.
MAGA isn’t about tearing things down—it’s about building and rebuilding America. And at his core, Trump is a builder.
Meanwhile, over the last decade, the Democratic Party has fully embraced Marxism. Let’s be clear: Marxists, not populists, are the ones dedicated to societal destruction. Karl Marx himself was obsessed with tearing down civilization, and for over a century, his ideological heirs have used Marxism to systematically dismantle societies across the globe. Today’s cultural Marxists—our so-called “progressives”—aren’t much different. Like Marx, a lazy bum who openly wished for his family’s deaths just so he could inherit money without working, modern progressives believe everything should be handed to them for free—funded, of course, by the wealthy. They’ve turned wealth redistribution into a political platform, pandering to their base, which increasingly includes members who have joined “The Flat Ass Society”—people who contribute little but demand everything.
Chuck Schumer recently strutted onto The View, hoping the old crows would help him patch up his image after caving on the Republican CR bill. But instead of damage control, he launched into a rant that perfectly encapsulated the darkness and moral rot at the heart of the American progressive movement that has hijacked the Democratic Party. Virtually everything he spewed about the CR bill, the Republicans, and—most outrageously—the America First movement was a blatant, bald-faced lie.
Never forget: Progressives are nothing more than the Americanized version of European Marxists, pushing the same destructive ideology under a different name.
WATCH:
The Trump administration, alongside the America First movement, is systematically dismantling the destructive policies the Democrats embedded in government to weaken the country and replacing them with time-tested solutions that worked long before progressives infiltrated the system.
What we’re witnessing now is a desperate, beaten-down Democratic Party flailing in its attempt to regain relevance. Lacking any real strategy, they resort to juvenile antics on the floors of Congress and shamelessly spew lies on television in a last-ditch effort to mislead the public. Meanwhile, the Republican-led movement is implementing real, effective policies that are laying the foundation for a new golden age in America’s future.
As for the Democrats’ collapse in support from the American people? They have no one to blame but themselves.
