According to internal documents obtained by America First Legal, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) advisory group classified supporters of former President Donald Trump, as well as military and religious individuals, as potential domestic terrorism threats.
The board, known as the “Homeland Intelligence Experts Group,” was established in September 2023 to offer DHS “expert” analysis on topics including terrorism and the trafficking of fentanyl into the country.
Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former CIA Operations Officer Paul Kolbe all signed a letter in October 2020 questioning the legitimacy of the Hunter Biden laptop and implying that its release was a Russian disinformation campaign.
Internal documents obtained by the AFL show the board categorizing “supporters of the former president” as forming “most of the Domestic Terrorism threat” in the United States.
The documents also identified attributes such as having served “in the military” and being “religious” as “indicators of extremists and terrorism,” citing unnamed studies.
According to RAND Corporation research published in 2023, military personnel are less likely than average Americans to endorse extremist political movements.

On Thursday, the AFL released the first set of documents outlining the committee’s aim to boost information gathering on Americans, including encouraging “mothers” and “teachers” to report on children suspected of extremism under the guise of “public health.”
The committee highlighted the model of the DHS’s “See Something, Say Something” campaign following 9/11, which encouraged Americans to report potential terrorist threats.
The AFL and former Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell filed a lawsuit, which led to the DHS panel’s closure. The lawsuit claimed that the group violated the Federal Advisory Committee Act, which controls how federal advisory committees can properly function.
Tom Fitton of the government watchdog group Judicial Watch, tweeted out America First Legal’s post about the Biden regime considering Trump supporters as “domestic terrorists.”
Incredible but also unsurprising. If the Biden regime wants to jail Trump for political reasons, it is no surprise they would consider his supporters enemies of the state. https://t.co/7IAlra29oz

“These inflammatory records reveal the interworkings of the illegal partisan committee that we proudly stopped,” AFL Executive Director Gene Hamilton told the Daily Caller.
All Americans should be concerned about the items in these documents. All efforts to weaponize the federal government against political opponents of the ruling regime must be stopped.
Brennan and Clapper also signed a 2020 letter alleging that the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop were part of a Russian disinformation campaign.
