Representative Patrick McHenry (R-NC), the Acting Speaker, ordered Nancy Pelosi to vacate her Capitol hideaway office by Wednesday.
After McCarthy was dethroned, McHenry was named Acting Speaker.
McCarthy appointed McHenry as Speaker Pro Tempore earlier this year, giving him full House Speaker responsibilities.
McHenry directed former Speaker Nancy Pelosi to give up her Capitol hideaway office as soon as possible! GTFO!
Pelosi slammed McHenry, calling his callous action to oust her from her secret office “a sharp departure from tradition.” I am pretty certain there is no tradition of a former Speaker having a special room.
The best part about McHenry’s “vicious action” is that she wasn’t even in Washington, DC. She was in California for the funeral of the late Senator Dianne Feinstein.

Cry me a river. Pelosi would never have given consideration for a Republican in the same position. In fact, in 2019, after the Democrats took back the House, Pelosi kicked Vice President Mike Pence out of an honorary office given to him by Speaker Paul Ryan as a personal FU to the Trump administration.

“Please vacate the space tomorrow, the room will be re-keyed,” a top assistant on the Republican-controlled House Administration Committee wrote. The acting speaker was reassigning the room “for speaker office use,” according to the email.
McHenry, a strong McCarthy loyalist, was first on McCarthy’s list to take over as acting speaker after the Californian was ousted in a vote on Tuesday afternoon.
In comparison to their regular appearance in the Senate, just a few House lawmakers are given hideaway offices in the Capitol. Nancy Pelosi no longer needs one and any decent person would have voluntarily given it up back in January.
