Kari Lake has filed an appeal against a Maricopa County judge’s show trial decision to dismiss her case challenging the results of the midterm elections.
On Tuesday, Lake filed a notice of appeal with the same Arizona Superior Court judge, challenging the dismissal of her lawsuit. According to a court filing, Lake will also seek a direct review by the Arizona Supreme Court.
On December 24, Arizona Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson issued his first ruling against Lake’s election case, confirming Katie Hobbs‘ victory as Arizona governor-elect. He directed Hobbs’ attorneys to produce a summary of costs and an application for sanctions by December 26.
On December 27, Thompson determined that there was insufficient evidence of Maricopa County malfeasance to overturn the county’s election results. His decision came just days after Lake filed her case and Thompson allowed two of ten election allegations to advance to a two-day trial.
Lake was defeated by Hobbs by around 17,000 votes, according to election results. Several weeks after the midterm elections, Lake filed a lawsuit against Hobbs, the current secretary of state, Maricopa County election officials, and other officials.
“I am standing up for the people of this state, the people who were done wrong on Election Day, and the millions of people who live outside of Maricopa County, whose vote was watered down by this bogus election in Maricopa County,” Lake said on Steve Bannon‘s “War Room” podcast.

While Lake did not meet the burden of proving her election-related claims, the judge found that her case did not meet the standard for imposing sanctions. He did, however, determine that Lake must reimburse Hobbs $33,040 in fees because she did not win her case.
On December 26, Maricopa County officials filed the motion against Lake and her legal team. Hobbs voted in favor of the motion as Secretary of State.
“Enough really is enough. It is past time to end unfounded attacks on elections and unwarranted accusations against elections officials,” Maricopa County Deputy Attorney Thomas P. Liddy wrote on December 26 in a 15-page memo asking the judge for sanctions and attorneys fees. “This matter was brought without any legitimate justification, let alone a substantial one.”
The courts “should not be used to harass political opponents and sow completely unfounded doubts about the integrity of elections,” according to the document.
Lake filed two lawsuits after Hobbs was proclaimed the winner. One sought information and records from Maricopa County, while the other sought to declare an overturn or redo the Maricopa election.
Lake referenced a news conference conducted by top Maricopa County officials in which they acknowledged printer difficulties throughout polling places on Election Day, which her team said disenfranchised voters, among other charges.
Thompson permitted two of Lake’s ten claims to proceed to trial, including one alleging deliberate interference with ballot printers and chain-of-custody issues.
A witness at the trial who analyzed votes for Lake’s attorneys stated that 14 of the 15 duplicate ballots he examined had 19-inch images of the ballot printed on 20-inch paper, indicating that the ballots couldn’t be read by a tabulator. The witness testified that such a modification would have necessitated a change in printer setups, but election officials refuted those claims.
Lake’s major witnesses, Mark Sonnenklar and Heather Honey, were credited by the judge, but the charges of intentional misconduct during the midterm elections were denied. That’s because it was a rigged show trial in the end.
Following the two-day trial, Lake insisted that her witnesses had shown malevolent intent.
“We provided expert testimony. We provided experts. The other side brought in activists to try to save face. They admitted that they’ve known about these ballot problems,” Lake stated.
Hobbs’ lawyer, Abha Khanna, told the Maricopa County courtroom that Lake’s attorneys haven’t proven if printing problems on Election Day were intentional acts that would have impacted the outcome of the race if they hadn’t occurred. Khanna stated during the trial’s closing arguments on December 22 that Lake’s assertions were based on hearsay, supposition, and theatrics.
“What we got instead was just loose threads and gaping plot holes. We know now that her story was a work of fiction,” Khanna explained.
We reported earlier this week:
Corrupt Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson had to ignore a ton of evidence and clear violations of Arizona law in order to rule against Kari Lake in her lawsuit against Maricopa County. He even ignored a confession by Scott Jarrett that the voting machines were reprogrammed on election day. That was intentional election tampering. Hundreds of thousands of ballots had no chain of custody. No votes were counted before they went to Runbeck. Runbeck family members are heavy contributors to Democrats only.
Those are all in violation of state law. Corrupt Judge Thompson ignored all of the law-breaking the Democrats did. Of course, they had help from RINOs such as Stephen Richer. Corrupt Judge Thompson should never hear an important case again. He has become an Amy Berman lookalike. I will be greatly disappointed if Kari Lake’s appeal is turned down. But, I won’t be surprised because there are so many activist judges out there.
…
I really don’t think he was bought off, but I do believe he dismissed the case because he is a spineless jellyfish. He was afraid of retaliation by the liberals. He didn’t want to be a target of the left and possibly end his career.
If the shoe were on the other foot, you just know that Hobbs would have had ANTIFA or other radical groups outside Judge Thompson’s home, but because conservatives don’t behave that way, he will get away with cheating Kari Lake with his rigged trial ruling.
