The state of New York is sending the National Guard, State Police, and MTA cops into New York City subways to make commuters “feel safe” amidst the mayor’s leadership failure, which has decimated the city.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) stated Wednesday that she will deploy state law enforcement to the Big Apple subway network, as well as “teams of mental health workers,” so it will “help commuters and visitors to the city feel safe,” reports the New York Times.
“Additional law enforcement officers would add to an already large presence in the subways, where Mayor Eric Adams ordered an additional 1,000 officers in February following a 45 percent spike in major crimes in January compared with the same time last year.”
“Grand larcenies — thefts without the use of force — were a main driver of the January spike in crime, according to the police. Grand larcenies are defined by the police as major crimes, along with homicides, assaults and robberies.”
Hochul is deploying 1,000 State Police, National Guard, and MTA cops, ostensibly for “bag checks.” It is unclear how that plan will be implemented on the service, which has upwards of three million riders per day.
“These brazen heinous attacks on our subway system will not be tolerated,” Hochul stated Wednesday. “No one heading to their job or to visit family or go to a doctor appointment should worry that the person sitting next to them possesses a deadly weapon.”

Hochul made no mention of Daniel Penny, a former US Marine who was charged with second-degree manslaughter after choking Jordan Neely for threatening people on a New York City subway train, culminating in Neely’s death.
Penny’s arrest has caused many New Yorkers to cease assisting others who have been victims of crime for fear of being accused themselves.
Oddly enough, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) was not there for Hochul’s statement.
From the New York Post:
“Subway crime rates surged in the first two months of this year — spiking by nearly 20% compared to this time last year, NYPD stats show. This year alone, three New Yorkers have been shot dead on trains and subway platforms”
“In addition to the patrol boost, Hochul said she will introduce a new law that allows judges to ban anyone who has been convicted of a violent transit assault from riding the Big Apple’s subway or bus system.”
Hochul said that the bill will amend an existing law, adding, “Basically, if you assault someone on the subways, you won’t be on the subways.”
One thing that is not being talked about is that the Democratic Party of New York caused the spike in crime rates in New York. When you have prosecutors who do not prosecute and who do not issue bail so that New York’s criminals can be out on the street before the police finish the paperwork, you don’t have to be a fortune teller to see that crime is going to go up. When you see illegal aliens beating New York police officers in Times Square, who are then let out without bail and then rewarded with plane tickets to California, it sends a message to people that criminals can pretty much do whatever they want to do.
I think a lot of this started under de Blasio. He made a rule that police were not allowed to react to New Yorkers pouring water over the heads of police officers in full uniform. The lack of respect among the criminal class of New York City was evident when everybody and their mother started pouring buckets of water over police officers heads. The police were not allowed to retaliate or arrest these people. Can you imagine if bleach were put into water pails and poured over cops’ heads?
When city leadership sends signals that they do not support law and order, or the police, the system breaks down and the ordinary citizens, the law-abiding people, suffer.
You can tell it’s an election year when Hochul finally comes out and says that they’re going to do something about the rising crime rates in New York. This is the same woman who recently told New York business owners not to worry about the government going after them when they saw the complete lack of fairness in how the state treated former President Donald Trump, letting New Yorkers know that what happened to Trump was political targeting. Most people learned that if they could do it to a former president, they could do it to them.
It is amazing to watch what Democrats do. They let things get so bad that the people can’t take it anymore, and when they act out, the Democrats swoop in and act like they are the ones who will fix all the problems that they created in the first place.
What every fake news reporter out there should ask, but won’t, is, “What took you so long?”
