A recent poll found that Hispanics would favor Republican control of Congress over the Democrats by 56 points, giving the Republicans a 65-point shift in Hispanic support over the past decade. That’s a really significant wave.
Conservative Hispanics have moved from leaning Democrat to become Republican-base voters.
According to NBC/Wall Street Journal polls in 2012, 48 percent of self-described conservative Latinos said they wanted Democrat control of Congress and only 40 percent said they wanted Republicans to run Congress. That was a 9 point lead for Democrats.
However, in a September 2022 NBC News/Telemundo poll, 73 percent of conservative Latinos now say they want Republicans in control of Congress and only 17 percent said they prefer Democrats. That is a whopping 56 point advantage for Republicans that represents a 65 point swing in a decade of time. This explains how Republicans have cut into Democrat leads among Latino voters.
As NBC News reported:
In the merged NBC News/Wall Street Journal polls of 2012, 49% of self-described conservative Latinos said they preferred Democratic control of Congress, versus 40% who wanted Republicans in charge — a 9-point edge for Democrats.

That’s a net 65-point swing in a decade, and it helps to explain how Republicans have cut into Democrats’ lead among Latino voters.
This was maybe the most fascinating finding from our recent NBC News/Telemundo poll:
Conservative Latinos went from D+9 in congressional preference in 2012 (per our merged polls), to R+56 now.

The numbers reveal that the Republicans over the last decade have gained support among Hispanic American voters, and that support only grew stronger under President Joe the Bobblehead Biden.
When you think about it, Hispanic voters recently went from having the lowest unemployment rates in recorded history for Hispanic Americans under the trump administration to the garbage economy that the Biden administration has given us. People vote with their wallets and Hispanics are no different. If you did not produce for your constituents, eventually, they’re going to find another party to support especially if that other party brings results.
According to a Gallup poll conducted earlier this year, Biden’s approval rating with Hispanics fell by 21 points from when he was first inaugurated through April.
Another polls showed that in 47 battleground districts throughout the country, Hispanics are “moving decisively away from Democrats.”
As Breitbart News reported:
In fact, while Hispanic voters nationwide voted for Democrats in congressional races over Republicans by a wide margin, 63 percent to 36 percent, according to the 2020 exit polls, the NRCC [National Republican Congressional Committee]analysis found that the Democrat’s advantage has been critically reduced. The recent poll found that “Hispanic voters are moving decisively away from Democrats,” cutting the Democrats’ advantage to a 44 percent to 37 percent margin on the generic congressional ballot.
For a long time now, there have been more Hispanics serving in elected offices at all levels of government than Democrats across the country. That’s a dirty little secret that our misinformation fake news media doesn’t want to tell you, but it’s true. But right now the GOP is being helped out by over 100 Hispanics who are running for Congress as Republicans and that’s a record for the party in a single election cycle.
Mayra Flores, the first Mexican-born woman to serve in Congress, and a rising star in the Republican Party, defeated Democrat Dan Sanchez in the heavily Hispanic Rio Grande Valley in Texas where she became the first Republican to represent that area in about 150 years.

Voters in District 34 have realized we no longer have to beg for scraps from Nancy Pelosi and the Washington liberals. As the first Mexican-born woman to serve in Congress, I am fighting for opportunity and security for all those living in our amazing district. Our America First policies resonate with the Hispanic community and others who live in this district. For over 100 years, the Democrat Party has taken for granted the loyalty and support South Texas has given them for decades. But they do nothing to earn our vote or our support. And meanwhile, President Biden is killing Texas jobs, weakening border security, and weakening our standing in the world. Enough is enough.
Cassy Garcia, running as a Republican against Texas Democrat Representative Henry Cuellar, said that “Now more than ever Hispanics feel a genuine sense of belonging with the GOP.”
Garcia added, “The red wave is here. Now more than ever Hispanics feel a genuine sense of belonging with the GOP. We know Hispanics are conservative on education, on social issues. We’re pro-life and pro-gun. We want lower taxes, religious freedom, and school choice.”
Amen and welcome home!
