Democrats fared reasonably well in the 2022 midterm elections by many measures.
They seem to have prevented Republicans from obtaining a sizable House majority. And they stand a good chance of maintaining the status quo in the Senate, at the very least.
Additionally, those outcomes come at a time when President Joe Biden’s approval rating is clinging to the low 40s and surveys reveal that the majority of Americans think the nation is moving in the wrong direction.
That is a pretty good night for the party in power, based on historical trends.
Joy Behar of ABC’s “The View,” on the other hand, is dissatisfied that voters did not give Joe Biden a supermajority in Congress. God forbid! Can you imagine the level of damage they could do with a supermajority in Congress? Haven’t they screwed the country up enough already? Behar needs to have her head examined. And then get a second opinion.
“I don’t want to be Debbie Downer,” Behar began on Thursday. “But, you know, on the one hand you have a party that tries to save healthcare, that tries to save your right to vote, that tries to preserve a women’s right, that tries to save the planet. And we still don’t have a supermajority?”

The “The View” panelists enjoy insinuating to American voters that they are not considering what is truly best for them or that they are unaware of what is in their best interests. Which is kind of offensive. But then again, they are always offensive on that show. They live in their own bubble.
Behar’s argument, however, seems to have certain weaknesses. This year, there were abortion-related ballot propositions in six states. Voters in Vermont, Michigan, and California adopted ballot initiatives to protect access to abortion. Voters in Kansas, Kentucky, and Montana rejected ballot initiatives that would have limited women’s access to abortion. That is exactly how a democracy is supposed to work. States handle things that are not enumerated as powers for the federal government in the constitution. Liberals tend to think that the American people should have democracy in the right to vote for the things that they want only if they want the things that liberals want. That’s because they’re nuts.
Additionally, Republican governors who did not contest the outcome of the previous election easily won reelection in states like Ohio, Georgia, and New Hampshire.
It doesn’t seem reasonable to imply that voters are not considering “their own needs.” Joy Behar is not a reasonable person by any measure.
Instead, it seems like people thought carefully about what the politicians actually stood for. Except, of course, in Pennsylvania where blue faced morons voted for John Fetterman.
In this series of midterm elections, it appears that the American people voted in their own interest, which is exactly what you’re supposed to do in America. You’re not supposed to wake up every day and think, Gee, I wonder what Joy Behar wants me to do today?
It also appears that they were tired of giving the party in power unlimited power, as is common in a midterm.
