Trump is going after the census again, and it’s got everyone talking. You know how every ten years we count everyone in America to figure out how many congressional seats each state gets? Well, Trump thinks there’s a problem with how we’re doing it. And if you stick with me through this article, you’ll see that he’s right.
Right now, when the census counters show up at your door, they’re counting everybody. Your neighbors, your kids, the guy down the street who’s here illegally. Everyone gets tallied up, and then that number decides how much political clout your state has in Washington.
The number of people in a state determines how many congressional seats the state gets. And remember, with each congressional seat, you get an elector for the Electoral College.
But it goes deeper than that as well. The population of a state determines how much the state receives in federal grants. The amount of federal grants a state gets determines how much state grants that cities and municipalities get. So the Democrats have a very strong interest in having the largest population in their states that they can get.
The problem we have is that back in 1992, Chief Justice John Roberts of the Supreme Court told the Democrats that illegal aliens may be on the census, claiming that the Constitution, for the apportionment, says that the tabulation of total population by states. Democrats pounced on this argument, claiming that the Founders did not put in the Constitution that people counted for the total population of A state had to be citizens. Yet the Democrats today will tell you that illegal aliens are not allowed to vote, so why would they be included in an apportionment that ends up determining the state’s power in a federal election? It makes zero sense.
So, because those people who are here illegally can’t vote, Trump’s asking a pretty straightforward question: “If illegal aliens like Democrats say they can’t vote, why would they count towards assigning states political power?” It’s a brilliant question.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNELIt’s not the first time he’s tried this. During his first presidential term, Trump actually made this change. Then Biden came in and flipped it right back. You could almost hear the collective sigh of relief from Democratic politicians in states like California, where this stuff really matters.
Think about it this way. If you’re California and you’ve got millions of people who can’t legally vote but still boost your population numbers, you’re getting extra seats in Congress and extra electoral votes, and extra taxpayer dollars in federal grants. That’s political gold.
Steven Miller, who worked with Trump on immigration issues, isn’t being subtle about what’s coming next. He’s saying they want to officially remove illegal immigrants from the census count, and this time they want to make it stick so Democrats can’t just undo it again if and when they’re back in power.
Now, what would happen if this went through? The numbers are pretty telling. California would probably lose three or four electoral votes, along with three congressional seats. Florida and Texas might each drop one because of the number of illegals who are hiding out in those two states. Meanwhile, states like Ohio, Missouri, Louisiana, Montana, and North Carolina could each pick up a seat. We’re talking about a net gain of maybe three to five electoral votes for Republicans. That’s huge.
Some people say that’s not a big deal, but think about how close elections have been lately. A few electoral votes can absolutely decide who ends up in the White House and which party controls the House of Representatives.
And here’s something that makes this even more complicated. There were some real problems with the 2020 census. Even the experts who study this stuff for a living admitted it was messed up. They’re saying at least two electoral votes got shifted from Republican states to Democratic states because of counting errors. Many think those errors were intentional. That’s for another article. However, if you fix those mistakes and also remove illegal immigrants from the count, you could be looking at seven or eight electoral votes swinging toward Republicans.
No doubt you will hear some liberal commentators trying to spin this differently. Some are even claiming that removing illegal immigrants from the count would somehow help Democrats. But when you actually look at the data, that doesn’t hold up. Democrats consider illegal aliens as “unregistered Democrats,” and so they’ve done everything they can to protect them and keep them in this country. Just look at all the shenanigans they’ve been involved in, trying to stop ICE from deporting thousands of violent criminal illegal aliens, even to the point of putting federal ICE agents in harm’s way.
There was a study done back in 2010 that showed what would have happened if illegal immigrants hadn’t been counted. Red states like Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, and Ohio would have each gained a seat. California would have lost three. And that was more than a decade ago, before the recent surge in illegal immigration.
Sure, states like Texas and Florida also have large immigrant populations, but it’s not even close to what’s happening in California. Some estimates put California’s illegal population at around 10 million people. That’s not a small number we’re talking about. That’s enough people to seriously shift political power.
So why are Democrats fighting this so hard? It’s actually pretty simple. Including illegal immigrants in the census helps them win elections. It gives their states more representatives in Congress and more electoral votes. Plus, it affects how federal money gets distributed, which is worth trillions of dollars.
At its core, this is about fairness. Trump’s argument is that if someone can’t vote, they shouldn’t be used to give one state more power than another. And polling shows that more Americans are starting to agree with that logic.
The whole immigration debate has shifted. It used to be mainly about criminals who were here illegally. Now you’ve got more people saying they want to stop illegal immigration completely and deport people who are already here illegally.
It’s gotten so intense that even Bernie Sanders, who calls himself a socialist, has criticized programs like H-1B visas because they let corporations exploit immigrant workers and hurt American citizens. It’s weird seeing the Left suddenly embrace these corporate-friendly policies when they help them politically.
So what does this mean for future elections? If Trump manages to make this change permanent, Republicans could see a consistent advantage in the electoral math.
Democrats would still have their strongholds, but their advantage would shrink. California, New York, and Illinois would lose some power. Ohio, Florida, Missouri, and other conservative states would gain influence.
And if states like Pennsylvania keep trending Republican, while illegal immigrants are no longer counted for political representation, Democrats are going to have a much harder time winning national elections. They’d have to focus on flipping swing states like Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada, while Republicans would be playing with better odds.
The bottom line is pretty clear. Trump’s team wants to change the rules of the game before the next round starts. If they pull it off, Democrats might find that their strategy of boosting political power through non-citizen populations is coming to an end.

UPDATE: John Roberts represented the government as deputy solicitor general in a 1992 census case.
do it. kill the cheater party
The criminal aliens are here illegally and have no right to representation. They should never be counted in the census.
Better to just to round up democrats using voter registration records and gas them in death camps.
We are done.
I can’t seem to find a reason to argue with you’re logic!
In other words, if we revoke the multiple ways that Democrats cheat, the GOP gets more seats. In reality, all that’s happening is that we are going back to the way things once were and are designed to be in “our democracy”.
Exactly, Jennifer. The fake news makes it sound like Trump wants to cheat when all he is doing is taking away the unfair advantages Democrats have given themselves to rig the system in their favor. Thanks!
1992??? John G. Roberts was nominated by President George W. Bush on July 19, 2005 to fill the upcoming vacancy left by Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
You’re right. I didn’t word it correctly. I made an UPDATE at the bottom: John Roberts represented the government as deputy solicitor general in a 1992 census case.
Thanks
The democrats have been using illegal immigration for years to boost their census numbers in sanctuary cities and states. Any wonder they keep giving out free stuff to keep their voter base?
If Trump manages that, most of the east coast will become Red States. Conservatives in states like Maryland , Delaware and New Jersey have long suffered under Democrat election fraud. In Maryland it is rampart and in your face each and every election, New Jersey the same.
Spot on! That’s exactly what this means. Thanks!
Some two bit black robe activist judge will shut this down in a heart beat.
I hear ya, and normally would agree, but the SCOTUS just ruled that those Jacobins in black robes can no long invoke national injunctions on the president. And if they do, SCOTUS said to ignore them. Thanks!
Making sure he and the GOP are able to thieve elections, of course. Imagine, the one that says an election was stolen is now rigging the system so more elections can be stolen. You cannot make up the level of ignorance that is coming out of America, you really can’t.
How is the GOP “thieving” elections when what they are doing is stopping the Democrats from “thieving” elections by bringing in up to 20 million illegals to use to gain power through an unconstitutional method? You’re not good at this.
This is so super obvious it takes a law degree to get the WRONG answer (like Roberts did back in the 90’s). No way to engage in that kind of sophistry and logical gymnastics with professional training.
