Well, patriots, get ready because President Donald Trump is kicking off his seventh week back in the Oval Office with a bang—literally. His first big address to Congress since reclaiming his seat is set for Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET, and while it’s not technically called the State of the Union (because, you know, rules), it’s pretty much the same thing.
As usual, the speech is expected to be a highlight reel of the administration’s victories, policies, and—let’s be honest—probably a few jabs at the media and political opponents. And Trump has plenty to talk about. Since taking office in January, he and his team have been operating at warp speed to reshape the government in line with his Make America Great Again (MAGA) vision. That includes the Department of Government Efficiency chair Elon Musk and his squad digging through federal agencies like a detective show, searching for fraud, waste, and bureaucratic nonsense. And while we’re at it, let’s not forget the border security push.
In true Trump fashion, he’s been signing executive orders like they’re autographs at a rally—76 and counting—plus a laundry list of other actions and proclamations. If there were a presidential speedrun category, he’d be the reigning champion.
But let’s talk about what really stole the headlines last week. On Friday, Trump and Vice President JD Vance sat down with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for what was supposed to be a diplomatic meeting. Instead, things went south fast. The meeting ended abruptly when Trump literally told Zelenskyy to leave. Yep, kicked him out.
It all unraveled in the final 10 minutes when Vance mentioned that peace between Russia and Ukraine would be achieved through U.S. diplomacy. That’s when Trump chimed in with:
“You’re gambling with the lives of millions of people. You’re gambling with World War III. You’re gambling with World War III. And what you’re doing is very disrespectful to the country, this country.”

On top of his address to Congress and not triggering World War III, Trump is set to bring down the tariff hammer on Canada and Mexico starting Tuesday.
Last month, he signed an executive order under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, slapping 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico and a 10% tariff on Chinese goods. Because nothing says “economic power move” like making your next-door neighbors pay extra for their exports. Don’t forget that Trump is doing this because these countries have taken advantage of the US where trade deficits mount up year after year and Trump only wants fairness for the American people. Isn’t it great to have a president who thinks that way once again after four years of being attacked by the last administration?
But here’s where it gets interesting—Canada and Mexico scrambled to cut a deal before the tariffs hit, agreeing to beef up security at their respective U.S. borders. In exchange, Trump agreed to hit the pause button on tariffs for a month. Well, that month is now up, and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick spilled the beans on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, confirming:
“That is a fluid situation.”
Translation: We’re still figuring out what exactly is happening. But one thing’s for sure:
“There are going to be tariffs on Tuesday on Mexico and Canada. Exactly what they are, we’re going to leave that for the president and his team to negotiate.”
In other words—tune in on Tuesday for the grand reveal. Will it be economic fireworks? A last-minute deal? A live-tweeted play-by-play from Trump himself? Who knows! But one thing’s for sure: it won’t be boring.
