Washington, DC Mayor Declares ‘Public Emergency’ Over Illegal Migrants Being Bussed to Her City From Texas and Arizona [VIDEO]

On Thursday, Muriel Bowser, the mayor of Washington, DC, has declared a public emergency over buses of migrants that continue to arrive in her city from Texas and Arizona.

Rather than admit that it was a childish endeavor to declare the nation’s capital as a sanctuary city, Bowser’s emergency declaration will put aside funding to take care of the migrants entering her city. It will also create an Office of Migrant Services (OMS). I wonder if she created an Office of Homeless Americans Services? This new office will be charged with implementing temporary accommodations, medical care, transportation (because she doesn’t really wish to welcome them as she bragged about in the past) and other services the city will now provide for illegal migrants winding up in DC.

On November 14, 2016, less than a week after Donald Trump was elected president, Bowser said the following:

“The values, laws, and policies of Washington, DC did not change on Election Day. We celebrate our diversity and respect all DC residents, no matter their immigration status. We are a sanctuary city because we know that our neighborhoods are safer and stronger when no one is afraid to call on our government for help, and when our police can focus on protecting and serving.”

Remember those days when it was fashionable to become a sanctuary city all because Donald Trump said that he was going to build a wall to keep the thousands of illegal aliens from pouring in over our border every day, and that he was going to get rid of all the legal loopholes that allowed them to stay, essentially forcing them to come into the country legally?

The most dangerous place to be was between a Democrat and a news camera in those days when Democrats would race to set up their jurisdictions to become sanctuaries for people who are invading our country by coming here illegally.

Since Texas Governor Greg Abbott started sending illegal migrants to sanctuary cities like Washington, DC, New York City, and Chicago, Bowser twice asked for National Guard assistance and was twice declined.

“We’re putting in place a framework that would allow us to have a coordinated response with our partners,” Bowser said on Thursday. “This will include a program to meet all buses, and given that most people will move on, our primary focus is to make sure we have a humane, efficient, welcome process that will allow people to move on to their final destination.”

Why didn’t she have any of this in place already? She declared years ago that her city was a sanctuary city and so she should have had these special amenities already available for the lawbreakers she so admires. It’s because Bowser, like the rest of them, couldn’t give a rat’s rump about the illegal aliens. Declaring a sanctuary city was all a symptom of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). They couldn’t help themselves. Democrats felt an urgent and irresistible need to outdo each other in proving their hatred for Trump, all because the former president wanted us to follow the law.

“Regardless of the federal response — which I think has been lacking in some respects — that the District of Columbia would continue to work with partners to advance what we need and ensure our systems in D.C. are not broken by a crisis that is certainly not of our making,” Bowser added.

Why should there be a federal response? It most certainly was of her making. The federal government didn’t declare the nation’s capital as a sanctuary city, she did.

One thing you will notice is Bowser takes no responsibility for what’s going on. She blamed the governors of Texas and Arizona, and does not assume any responsibility for declaring her city as a sanctuary city.

Texas Governor Abbott has argued until he was blue in the face that Texas border towns are overwhelmed, and those in power in DC, NYC, and the Windy City should face the new realities of the border crisis that they helped create by supporting our lawless President Joe Biden and his lawless regime.

The federal government is supposed to manage immigration and naturalization. That’s in the Constitution as one of the 18 enumerated powers given to Congress. Joe Biden and Alejandro Mayorkas, Biden’s Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have violated every one of our immigration laws by allowing over 5 million illegal aliens into the interior of the country since January 20, 2021. And if we talk about what the Biden regime is doing, we’re accused of spreading a conspiracy theory that they call “replacement theory,” where Democrats are trying to replace their voter base that has all but abandoned them because the Democrats never did a thing for them.

“In addition to Washington, DC, New York City is the ideal destination for these migrants, who can receive the abundance of city services and housing that Mayor Eric Adams has boasted about within the sanctuary city,” Abbott said in August.

The NYC mayor said of the illegal migrants being sent to his city, “This is horrific.”

Republican Arizona Governor Doug Ducey took a page from Abbott’s book and has now started bussing illegal migrant to sanctuary cities as well.

It is only a matter of time when the authoritarian Biden regime cracks down on states and demands that they take in the illegal migrants that Joe Biden has so callously dumped on border states for political reasons.

NYC Mayor Adams sent a “fact-finding” delegation to the Texas border this week. The staffers met with border officials in Eagle Pass, Texas. That site sees hundreds of illegal migrants come over the border each and every day. Governor Abbott criticized the mayor for staying home while he sent off his staff to tour the border.

“Adams talked the talk about being a sanctuary city — welcoming illegal immigrants into the Big Apple with warm hospitality. Talk is cheap. When pressed into fulfilling such ill-considered policies, he wants to condemn anyone who is pressing him to walk the walk,” Abbott wrote in a New York Post op-ed.

Abbott press secretary Renae Eze told the Washington Examiner on Wednesday, “Governor Abbott’s invitation is still open for Mayor Adams to come visit our southern border and see firsthand the devastating impacts of the Biden-made crisis on border towns smaller than a NYC borough — instead of sending his staffers on a secret trip to Texas.”

DC Mayor Bowser thinks the ramifications of the border crisis on her city are not of her making. It’s about time these radical leftist Democrats start feeling the pain that their support for such lawlessness has created. Instead of owning up to the fact that their actions were all done in response to Trump’s immigration policies, they complain. Typical Democrat behavior.
