Do you have flaky, scaly skin? The answer is to raise taxes. Having trouble getting grass stains from your clothes? The answer is to raise taxes. Are living room bulbs constantly needing replacement? The answer is to raise taxes. Is the price of gasoline too high? The answer is to raise taxes. These Democrats, especially California Democrats are one-trick ponies. The answer to every problem is to raise taxes, which is why people are leaving that state in droves.
Gas prices are 64% higher in California than the national average. Why? Gavin Newsom says that the problem is price gouging, but is it? Or is it because the cost of everything, including taxes is so high? Consider this for a moment. Gas stations and gas companies make more money when the price of gas is low. People drive more when the price is low. And the markup on gasoline is low. That is why so many gas stations now include convenience stores with extremely high markups. To stay in business.
Regulations are a killer in California. They even require their own special blends. They are expensive to make because the ingredients are not plentiful. The Democratic legislature has made it impossible to build or operate refineries in the state. Then you have enormous local, city, and state taxes, not to mention the high cost of buying or renting property for a gas station.
Now, Gavin Newsom is calling a special session of the state legislature to pass a so-called windfall profit tax which he says will lower the price of gasoline. But, how could it? Oil companies will just raise the cost of their products to cover the new tax, meaning that will drive up the cost of gasoline.
While gas prices have fallen significantly after hitting a high in June, the same prices in California are far outpacing the rest of the country. The national average for a gallon of gas is about $3.89 according to the Automobile Association of America, while the average cost per gallon in California is $6.39, or 64% greater than the rest of the country.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNELNewsom was hit with ridicule and mockery over the claim that gas prices were simply the result of greed:
“Gas prices in Florida are half the price in California. Why is it only California with $7 gas right now!” asked Christina Pushaw, the rapid response director for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).
“Really strange how oil companies only get really greedy when they cross the California border,” read another popular response.
“Only an economically illiterate Democrat would think enacting yet another state tax on petroleum companies will bring about a decrease in gas prices LOL. You couldn’t make up this level of stupid if you tried,” responded another detractor.
“Gas prices are $3 less per gallon in Texas. I guess Texas uses different oil companies,” said another critic.
