Tuesday’s election was a grave disappointment with few exceptions. The biggest non-disappointment is without a doubt Florida where the governorship and the Senate seat were landslides and 4 House seats were flipped to the Republicans. Nevada could be another state where Republicans could clean up unless there are some shenanigans on the part of the Democrats. DeSantis has declared that Florida is where woke goes to die. It is no longer a swing state after last Tuesday.
DeSantis not only beat Charlie Crist by about 20 points but he won the Democratic bastions of Miami-Dade and Palm Beach as well. He had long coattails and it showed in the final counts in the state. Florida may have passed Texas as the reddest state in the country. Don’t mess with Florida? Too bad that Republicans in other states have not emulated what DeSantis has done in Florida. That’s what we really need now.
Democrats and RINOs are pressing forward with the narrative that DeSantis should be the party standard bearer and not President Trump. I’m not so sure about that as Trump has reached cult status as you can see from the size of his rallies. But, I would like to see a Trump/DeSantis ticket. We could win and hold the presidency for 12 years starting in 2025. Especially as the Democratic Party keeps pushing farther and farther to the left. Two more years of Biden could easily make that a reality.
If DeSantis can paint Florida red, he’ll argue that he might be the only Republican that can do the same thing in other battleground states. And he’ll do that on policy and culture:
Now, today is the culmination of the 2022 fall elections, but in reality Americans have been voting for many years now. They’ve been voting with their feet. And the results of that behavior has been just as stark as our landslide victory today. States and cities governed by leftist politicians have seen crimes skyrocket, they’ve seen their taxpayers abused, they’ve seen medical authoritarianism imposed, and they’ve seen American principles discarded. The woke agenda has caused millions of Americans to leave these jurisdictions for greener pastures.
Now, this great exodus of Americans, for those folks Florida, for so many of them, has served as the promised land. We — We have embraced freedom. We have maintained law and order. We have protected the rights of parents. We have respected our taxpayers and we reject woke ideology.

People have come here because our policies work. Leadership matters. We refuse to use polls and put our finger in the wind. Leaders don’t follow, they lead.
We set out a vision, we executed on that vision, and we produced historic results. And the people of this state have responded in record fashion.
Now, while our country flounders due to failed leadership in Washington, Florida is on the right track.
The crowd chanted, “Two more years.” They were obviously chanting about 2024 and the presidential election. DeSantis certainly leads the field after his performance in Tuesday’s election. The Democrats will regret pushing DeSantis for the 2024 nomination.
