U.S. authorities tell the AP that catastrophic blasts in Poland claimed on Moscow by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky were probably triggered by Ukrainian missiles. President Joe Biden told reporters it is “unlikely” Russia is responsible.
President Zelensky quickly claimed that explosions that killed two persons at a grain drying plant in Przewodów, Poland, were caused by “Russian missile terror,” adding that “[Ukraine], [Poland], all of Europe, and the world must be fully protected from terrorist Russia.”
Three U.S. officials who “spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss the matter publicly” told the Associated Press that preliminary investigations suggest Ukraine struck Poland, likely as a result of an anti-aircraft missile or missiles fired at an incoming Russian bombardment going off course.
When asked about Russia’s missile launches, U.S. President Joe Biden said “preliminary information contests that”
“It’s unlikely based on the trajectory that it was fired from Russia, but we’ll see,” he said.
Had a call with 🇵🇱 President @AndrzejDuda. Expressed condolences over the death of Polish citizens from Russian missile terror. We exchanged available information and are clarifying all the facts. 🇺🇦, 🇵🇱, all of Europe and the world must be fully protected from terrorist Russia.

An AP source characterized as a “senior U.S. intelligence official” first claimed that “Russian missiles crossed into NATO member Poland,” however this narrative has since been retracted.
Poland says the bombs that hit their country were “most probably” built in Russia, while Russia and Ukraine share a stock of older missiles from the Soviet era, and has called the Russian ambassador “for immediate detailed explanations.”
President Andrzej Duda remarked, “We are acting calm.” “This is a difficult situation”
Russia’s official view is that attempts to blame them for the bombings in Poland are a “deliberate provocation” and that “Russian firepower has launched no strikes at the Ukrainian–Polish border.”
