A recent report says that Elon Musk, who owns Twitter, is thinking about laying off even more people, this time focusing on the company’s sales and partnerships department.
Musk gave Twitter employees an ultimatum last week: work long hours on a “hardcore” version of Twitter or leave with three months of severance pay. Several employees left.
According to a report by Bloomberg, that more technical workers left than expected, compared to those in sales, partnerships, and other similar roles. Musk asked the leaders of these divisions on Friday if they would agree to let go of more employees.
Maggie Suniewick, who was in charge of partnerships, and Robin Wheeler, who was in charge of sales and marketing, both said no. Both were fired because they didn’t want to lay off more people.
Wheeler had planned to leave the company earlier this month, but Musk convinced him to stay. Since then, Wheeler has been helping Musk talk to advertisers, many of whom left the platform after Musk took it over. Before the Musk takeover, Breitbart News said that a number of big companies, including General Mills and Audi, had stopped advertising on the platform.
Breitbart News recently reported that former President Donald Trump‘s account on the platform has been restored after Musk posted a poll. But Trump has no plans to go back to the site any time soon.
