It is bad when a six-year-old student shoots his teacher, but it is even worse when the school is notified that the student had a gun and they did nothing about it until after the teacher was shot. Diane Toscano, the attorney for Richneck Elementary School teacher Abigail Zwerner, alleges that school officials had received three warnings about the six-year-old before he shot Zwerner. Were they waiting for a fourth warning before taking action?
Toscano has announced that her client will be suing the Newport News school district because their inaction allowed her to be shot. It is one thing for a student to come to school and use a hidden gun to shoot a teacher, but it is another thing when the teacher gets shot after officials received three complaints against him on the day he shot Zwerner.
Toscano said:
“On that day, over the course of a few hours, three different times — three times — school administration was warned by concerned teachers and employees that the boy had a gun on him at the school and was threatening people. But the administration could not be bothered.”
Newport News Public Schools Superintendent George Parker told parents during a meeting earlier in the month that at least one school administrator knew of the gun before Zwerner was shot. On the day of the shooting, Zwerner told an administrator at 11.15 AM that the boy had threatened to beat up another student and that she was very concerned about it, but the administrator did nothing about her complaint.
According to the lawyer, one of Zwerner’s colleagues told a school administrator around noon that she had searched the boy’s book bag and that she believed he had placed his gun in his pocket. The administrator blew her off, claiming that the boy had little pockets and that the administrator did nothing. Just about an hour later, the boy showed another student the gun and threatened to shoot him if he told. The boy was scared and was crying. Once again, no action was taken and a little while later, he shot Zwerner. The school has no valid excuse for ignoring all three warnings and the administrators who did nothing should be investigated for ther purpose of kicking their lazy butts put the door.

“What did administrators do?” Toscano asked at a news conference Wednesday. “Did administrators call the police? No. Did administrators lock down the school? No. Did administrators evacuate the building? No. Did they confront the student? No.”
At around 2:00 p.m., the 6-year-old student aimed the gun at his 25-year-old teacher and fired one round into her chest in front of the whole class. Zwerner continues to recover at home after being hospitalized for two weeks, the AP reported.
“Three weeks ago, Abby was a cheery young woman with a big heart and loved educating young people — she had a very bright future and a career she loved,” Toscano said. “Today, she is between surgeries and physical therapy appointments, with a career in question. How could anyone find the courage to confidently face a class of students again?”
Liberal educators have suspended kids who have drawn guns or pretended their finger was a gun, but when a report comes in about a student with a gun, they do nothing. This is just another example of liberals favoring criminals over honest citizens. When will you finally decide you have had enough?
