Don Lemon has one foot on ice and the other on a banana peel. Is CNN aiming him for the door? First, he gets demoted from his prime-time show and now he is in trouble over his sexist remarks about Nikki Haley. Right about now, he must be feeling like the dinosaurs after the meteor hit. But, it is CNN’s own fault. They had to know Lemon was an idiot and that he would not change after being put on days.
I understand that he was still under contract, but news outlets should be more like sports teams. Once they know a player isn’t going to help them and that no one is willing to trade for him, they simply cut them loose and pay off their contract and they go out and find someone who can help them. You need to know when to cut your losses and I expect that is precisely what CNN will finally do with Lemon.
Last week, Nikki Haley announced she is running for president, although I think she is really running for vice president. Haley is not Liz Cheney, who actually believes she has a shot at the nomination. She is a realist and knows she only needs to show some strong support to have a chance to be on the ticket. Lemon then beclowned himself by saying that Haley is past her prime, which is ridiculous since both party front runners are about 80 years old. Lemon was rocked from the left and right for his comments. And remember, he thinks Kamala Harris is the bee’s knees.
Lemon said.
“Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime. Sorry, when a woman is in their prime [is] in [her] 20s and 30s and maybe 40s.”
“That’s not according to me. It depends. It’s just like, prime. If you look it up,” Lemon added. “If you Google when is a woman in her prime, it’ll say 20s, 30s, 40s.”
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL“The reference I made to a woman’s ‘prime’ this morning was inartful and irrelevant, as colleagues and loved ones have pointed out, and I regret it. A woman’s age doesn’t define her either personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who prove that every day.”
CNN CEO Chris Licht reportedly said during an editorial call on Friday morning that Lemon’s comments about Haley “disappointed” him.
“His remarks were upsetting, unacceptable, and unfair to his co-hosts, and ultimately a huge distraction to the great work of this organization,” Licht said to his staffers, according to a readout of the call obtained by Confider.
Lemon offered an apology on the same call.
“I’m sorry,” Lemon said. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone. I did not mean to offend anyone.”
DailyMail.com reported last week that inside sources described Lemon as “rude, self-righteous and clearly sexist” to the news outlet, adding that “his apology meant nothing.”
“Don has been skating on thin ice for so long, and many wanted him fired in December when he freaked out on Kaitlin Collins for no reason,” the sources said. “She was in tears, and it was so inappropriate.”
