In a surprise random act of journalism, ABC host questioned House minority leader Ro Khanna over the whistleblowers who claim that Merrick Garland’s DOJ hindered US Attorney David Weiss from prosecuting Hunter Biden. This is a sore spot for Democrats because Garland obviously lied about Weiss having complete control over the prosecution of Hunter Biden. The truth is that Weiss was unable to get permission to bring charges against Hunter in DC and California. Of course, Khanna insists Garland did not lie.
The whistleblowers told the House Ways and Means Committee that Garland’s DOJ lied to Congress when he claimed that Weiss was unfettered by interference. The DOJ did not want Hunter prosecuted and they cut him a sweetheart deal for failing to pay $100,000 in taxes in 2018 and 2919 in both years.
Karl asked Khanna:
“Are you concerned about what’s coming out of this case?”
Khanna responded:
“Jon, no, let’s just review the facts here. You had President Trump appoint a U.S. attorney in Delaware and President Biden had the ability to fire that U.S. attorney if he wanted — as is customary, that a new president comes in, they remove all the U.S. attorneys. President Biden didn’t fire the U.S. attorney. He had his past opponent’s appointee have total power over making a decision —”
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNELKarl followed up:
“But sir, what the whistleblower’s saying is that Weiss, who was appointed by Trump, was not the deciding official on this case. If that turns out to be true, doesn’t that directly contradict what the attorney general has said?”
Khanna:
“But Weiss is not saying that. Isn’t the source Weiss? If Weiss was saying that, I would have a concern. If Weiss was out there saying, ‘I didn’t have total authority, there was interference.’ But Weiss is the key person, and he’s not saying that.”
Garland lied and Khanna swore to it.
The younger Biden reached a plea deal with Weiss June 20 in which he pleaded guilty to an illegal gun charge and tax crimes in exchange for no jail time.
The whistleblowers further claimed Hunter Biden sent a WhatsApp message from July 30, 2017, further alleging President Joe Biden’s involvement in his son’s business dealings. The message was reportedly sent to Chinese energy official Henry Zhao, reading, “I am sitting here with [Joe Biden] and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled.”
ABC’s Jon Karl on Sunday actually kind of did his job and asked Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna about the IRS whistleblower report revealing Merrick Garland likely lied under oath about not interfering in the Hunter Biden investigation.
“Republicans in the House have released testimony of this IRS whistleblower suggesting he’s got evidence that decisions are being made by the US Attorney in Delaware and not by the Attorney General is not true and ultimately it was the Attorney General – main Justice deciding this, are you concerned about what’s coming out of this case?” Jon Karl asked Ro Khanna on ABC’s “This Week.”
Ro Khanna distorted the facts.
Ro Khanna falsely claimed US Attorney Weiss, a Trump appointee, had “total power” over making a decision on Hunter Biden.
Jon Karl pushed back a little and said, “But what the whistleblower is saying is that Weiss, who was appointed by Trump, said that he was not the deciding official on this case. If that turns out to be true, doesn’t that directly contradict what the Attorney General has said?”
