According to the most current data from Victory Polling, Governor Ron DeSantis has lost a lot of support in Florida to former President Donald Trump.
The most recent poll shows Trump asserting his absolute domination in Florida, after lagging in the same poll just months earlier.
In May, for example, the two presidential candidates were deadlocked, but DeSantis’s standing has steadily declined during his presidential campaign.
According to the August poll, Trump leads the Republican field in Florida with 59 percent of the vote, a 21-point rise from late May. DeSantis currently trails Trump by 39 points, with 23 percent of the vote. This represents a 15-point dip since late May, resulting in a 36-point movement away from DeSantis and toward Trump throughout the summer. No other candidate comes close, with former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie coming in third with 4% of the vote, and Vivek Ramaswamy, an anti-woke businessman, came in second with 3%.

The poll also compared Trump and DeSantis in the Sunshine State, with Trump ahead 64 percent to DeSantis’ 36 percent, including leaners.
In Florida, Trump leads DeSantis by 27 points in a head-to-head matchup, a shift of 28 points since our last poll in May. On the complete ballot of Republican candidates, Trump’s lead increases to a staggering 36 points. In the past few months, Trump’s support has increased dramatically in comparison to DeSantis’.
The study was conducted among 590 likely GOP primary voters in Florida during August 21-23, 2023. It has a +/- 4.3 percent margin of error and comes as multiple other national and state-level polls show Trump maintaining his lead and DeSantis fading, slipping to third and fourth place in several recent polls.
“People said he was a lousy candidate,” Trump remarked of DeSantis in an interview back in July with Breitbart. “He turned out to be a lousy candidate. I don’t think he’s going to be second very long. It looks like he’s being superseded by others or getting very close.”
Ron de Santis has no one to blame but himself. He had just gotten done telling the people of Florida that he was not going to run for president because he was going to finish his job as governor. And then three months later he started campaigning for 2024. Had he not done that, Trump may have put him on the ticket. That would have made him a rock star in the GOP, giving him 12 years in the White House. But he couldn’t wait for his turn. He believed the hype of the establishment RINOs that he could beat Trump in a primary. The sad thing is that all the good he did in Florida may be forgotten because he broke his pledge to Floridians.
