Let’s take a moment to talk about something that’s driving the Left absolutely insane. Ready? The Trump administration is actually deporting immigrants who commit crimes. Yes, even the ones who were once legal. I know. Shocking, right?
And before the usual crowd starts crying “xenophobia” into their podcast mics, let’s be honest about what’s happening. We’re not talking about innocent families trying to build a life. We’re talking about people who pose a national security threat, put Americans in danger, or commit serious crimes right here in the United States. According to a recent DOJ memo, federal prosecutors have been directed to launch “denaturalizing proceedings” against legal immigrants who break the law.
Imagine that. If you murder someone, or rape someone, or throw around some good old-fashioned anti-Semitism — and you lied to become a citizen — the Trump administration is saying, “You don’t get to stay.” Call it controversial if you want. It sounds like basic common sense.
Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate laid it out pretty clearly. “The benefits of civil denaturalization include the government’s ability to revoke the citizenship of individuals who engaged in the commission of war crimes, extrajudicial killings, or other serious human rights abuses; to remove naturalized criminals, gang members, or, indeed, any individuals convicted of crimes who pose an ongoing threat to the United States; and to prevent convicted terrorists from returning to U.S. soil or traveling internationally on a U.S. passport,” he wrote.
Now, if that offends you, I have questions. Because let’s review what he’s saying — if you’re a terrorist, or a war criminal, or a gang member, and you only got your citizenship by lying — yeah, you don’t get to keep it. That’s the policy. That’s what civil denaturalization is for.
Shumate continued, saying these proceedings let the government strip citizenship from those involved in “serious crimes such as war crimes, extrajudicial killings, gang activity, and war crimes.” And in case that wasn’t clear enough, he added that denaturalization would “prevent convicted terrorists from returning to U.S. soil or traveling internationally on a U.S. passport.”
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNELLet me put that another way. If you’re planning on blowing something up and using a U.S. passport to do it, you’re not going to be using ours. Seems reasonable.
The DOJ also has the ability to target individuals who got here through lies and cover-ups. Shumate again: “The Department of Justice may institute civil proceedings to revoke a person’s United States citizenship if an individual either ‘illegally procured’ naturalization or procured naturalization by ‘concealment of a material fact or by willful misrepresentation.’”
So yes, lying on your forms actually has consequences now.
And here’s where it gets more interesting. U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles from Tennessee is asking the DOJ to look into a certain New York City mayoral candidate — one Zohran Mamdani — a Marxist Muslim Democrat who, it turns out, has said some things worth paying attention to.
Ogles didn’t pull any punches. “Publicly praising the [Holy Land Five] Foundation’s convicted leadership as ‘my guys’ raises serious concerns about whether Mr. Mamdani held affiliations or sympathies he failed to disclose during the naturalization process,” he said.
Now, if you don’t know, the Holy Land Foundation was convicted of funneling money to Hamas. Not exactly the Rotary Club. And if Mamdani was out here cozying up to those folks and didn’t mention it while applying for citizenship, yeah, that’s a problem.
The DOJ isn’t sitting still on this. They already scored a win by denaturalizing Elliott Duke, a convicted child sexual abuse material offender who somehow managed to sneak into the U.S. Army while hiding his disturbing background.
How did Duke do it? He denied that he’d committed any crime. He also didn’t mention that he had been involved in distributing child abuse material. Minor oversight, apparently. After getting caught again, Duke confessed that he had been involved in this both before and after becoming a citizen.
Shumate came in again with the obvious truth: “If you commit serious crimes before you become a U.S. citizen and then lie about them during your naturalization process, the Justice Department will discover the truth and come after you.”
And yet — because we live in a country where basic sanity now triggers people — there are still folks out there defending criminals from being denaturalized. Why? Because it’s Trump’s DOJ doing it. That’s it. That’s the whole objection. The people suffering from late-stage Trump Derangement Syndrome will twist themselves into knots defending child predators, terrorist sympathizers, and violent offenders — as long as it helps them feel morally superior for five minutes.
Here’s the simple truth: if you lied your way into this country, if you committed crimes once you got here, or if you’re a threat to the people who actually belong here, then no, you don’t get to stay. And the fact that this basic idea triggers outrage on the Left tells you everything about where their priorities really are.
