So here we go again. Another bombshell report. Another pile of evidence suggesting that Joe Biden may not have been running his own White House. Not totally surprising, but still, when you actually read the details, it’s downright insane.
A newly released report shows that Joe Biden’s chief of staff, not Biden himself, was the one who gave the final approval for a slew of preemptive pardons during the president’s last days in office. That’s a big deal, especially when Biden claimed during an interview with the New York Times that he “made every decision” on those pardons and that the autopen was only used because of the “large volume” of them.
Right. Just like he remembered, his son Hunter never did anything wrong.
Let’s be clear. In the last stretch of his presidency, Biden pardoned or gave clemency to over 1,500 people. Instead of a clerical error, that’s a spree. A wave of presidential mercy that conveniently wrapped up just before Trump could walk back in the door. And many of the recipients were people who helped Joe pull off some pretty bad things against his political enemies.
At the time, Biden tried to explain it all away. He said Trump was “vindictive” and would have “gone after” a bunch of his old pals “for no good reason.” Like the way Biden himself went after Trump and people around his orbit to keep Trump from running again.
Then came a bizarre rant: “They’re liars. They know it. They know, for certain. I mean, this is – look, what they, they’ve had a pretty good thing going here. They’ve done so badly. They’ve lied so consistently about almost everything they’re doing.”

The Times report flat out debunks Biden’s “I did it all” story. It says Jeff Zients, Biden’s chief of staff, was the one who approved the use of the autopen. Not once. Not twice. But for multiple high-profile names, including Anthony Fauci and Gen. Mark Milley, two people who caused so much damage to the country.
Did Biden even see the names? Apparently not. According to the Times, Biden just “signed off on the standards he wanted to be used to determine which convicts would qualify for a reduction in sentence.” In other words, Biden outsourced judgment, where they slapped his name on the envelope.
On Biden’s final day in office, he reportedly held a meeting with his aides until after 10 p.m. to go over the preemptive pardons. That’s way after his usual bedtime. After that, an assistant emailed Zients to green-light the plan. Zients replied: “I approve the use of the autopen for the execution of all of the following pardons.”
Now ask yourself this: Who was really in charge?
President Trump certainly has questions. He asked if Biden was even “aware” of who was being pardoned. Trump said Monday that the whole thing may be “one of the biggest scandals that we’ve had in 50 to 100 years.” Then he doubled down: “I guarantee you he knew nothing about what he was signing, I guarantee you.”
That sounds like someone who’s seen the truth behind the curtain.
The White House didn’t help its case. Harrison Fields, a spokesperson, backed Trump up: “The same president [Biden] who lied through his teeth to the American people for four years about everything from his health to the state of the economy should not be trusted again.”
And it gets worse.
“The Biden administration conducted the most egregious cover-up scheme in American politics. The truth will come out about who was, in fact, running the country sooner or later, just as the truth is emerging about the state of Joe Biden’s cognitive and physical health,” Fields told Fox News.
Oh, and let’s not forget the big one. Biden pardoned his son, Hunter. The same Hunter who got nailed on three felony counts for illegally buying a firearm back in 2018. The same Hunter who pleaded guilty to nine federal tax charges after skipping out on $1.6 million in taxes. That should have landed him behind bars for two decades. It would have to any one of us.
Trump didn’t let that slide either. He told Attorney General Pam Bondi to look into the entire autopen scandal back in June. And what he said in his official statement is worth repeating in full:
“In recent months, it has become increasingly apparent that former President Biden’s aides abused the power of Presidential signatures through the use of an autopen to conceal Biden’s cognitive decline and assert Article II authority.”
And then came this: “This conspiracy marks one of the most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history. The American public was purposefully shielded from discovering who wielded the executive power, all while Biden’s signature was deployed across thousands of documents to effect radical policy shifts.”
So if you’re wondering whether Biden ran his own administration, the answer might be: not really. If you’re wondering who did, you’re not alone. Because that question isn’t going away.
