Finally, the truth is starting to come into focus.
The Washington, DC, Metropolitan Police Department has released more than 1,000 hours of body-worn camera footage from the January 6, 2021, protests at the U.S. Capitol. In total, that amounts to an astonishing 1,630 videos.
Did the government suddenly decide the American people deserved transparency? Not even close.
The footage became public because Judicial Watch took the fight to court and won.
According to Judicial Watch, the videos were released after an April 2026 ruling in a Washington, DC, Freedom of Information Act case.
Judicial Watch shared the announcement on X:

Judicial Watch announced the court win today.
The videos were released because of an April 2026 court ruling in a DC Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit. The videos are available via the Judicial Watch website here. or http://www.judicialwatch.org/january6bodycam
Judicial Watch filed the DC FOIA lawsuit in June 2024 after the DC Police denied an August 2021 request for all body-worn camera footage recorded by police officers responding to the January 6, 2021, events at and around the U.S. Capitol (Judicial Watch v. District of Columbia (No. 2024-CAB-003453)).
Earlier this year, a local DC court dealt a major blow to government secrecy by ruling that the DC Police could not broadly blur and censor the footage. Rejecting DC Police’s claim that it could withhold faces and voices of everyone except law enforcement—and its assertion that producing the footage would cost more than $1.5 million—the court held that any privacy interests were minimal and outweighed by the overwhelming public interest in disclosure.]
Think about what that means.
Almost five years after January 6, Americans still had to go to court just to watch video recorded by the government’s own cameras.
That raises an obvious question. Why did it take a judge’s order before this footage could be released?
Another question naturally follows.
What is contained in these 1,630 videos that Democrat officials, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger in Washington, fought so hard to keep away from public view?
If you are waiting for the corporate media to spend weeks combing through every minute of this material, you will probably be waiting a long time. Most major news organizations settled on their January 6 narrative years ago. Since then, there has been very little interest in revisiting it.
My belief is that Democrats stole the 2020 election and then used the events of January 6 to shift the nation’s attention away from allegations of election fraud. In my view, the media focused almost exclusively on the two-and-a-half-hour riot while giving little or no attention to evidence that election fraud had occurred, effectively helping Democrats avoid broader public scrutiny of those claims.
Now the footage is finally available.
More than 1,000 hours of video can be examined by anyone willing to spend the time.
Whether it confirms long-held beliefs or challenges them, one thing is certain. The public now has access to evidence that many people spent years trying to obtain.
Sunlight is finally breaking through, whether Washington’s political establishment welcomes it or not.
