Many Christians in Afghanistan are now fleeing to the mountains because, according to them, the Taliban terrorists are now going door to door searching for Christian believers for the purpose of killing them.
Twenty years and about a trillion dollars after US forces kicked the Taliban out of the country, we are now witnessing the start of a new brutal regime of Taliban terrorists coming back to power. The Taliban tore through Afghanistan at such an alarming speed over the past couple of weeks as US troops were leaving and already they are looking for enemies inside the country they now control.
Leaders of the underground Afghanistan church, through a statement, told Frontier Alliance International, a missionary group, that Christians are being targeted for execution:
The Taliban has a hit list of known Christians they are targeting to pursue and kill. The US Embassy is defunct and there is no longer a safe place for believers to take refuge. All borders to neighboring countries are closed and all flights to and from have been halted, with the exception of private planes. People are fleeing into the mountains looking for asylum. They are fully reliant on God, who is the only One who can and will protect them.
The Taliban are going door-to-door taking women and children. The people must mark their house with an “X” if they have a girl over 12 years old, so that the Taliban can take them. If they find a young girl and the house was not marked they will execute the entire family. If a married woman 25 years or older has been found, the Taliban promptly kill her husband, do whatever they want to her, and then sell her as a sex slave.
Husbands and fathers have given their wives and daughters guns and told them that when the Taliban come, they can choose to kill them or kill themselves—it is their choice.

This week, an Afghan Christian leader who wished to remain anonymous told CBS News that the Taliban’s rhetoric that the new regime will be tolerant is nothing but bald-faced lies, and the truth is they want to find and eliminate Christians from the population. Eliminate meaning death.
“Right now we fear elimination,” he said. “The Taliban are going to eliminate the Christian population of Afghanistan.”
He said he’s already lost any way to communicate with believers in other cities and he’s afraid that the deadly persecutions have only just begun.
You have to remember that people who are under 25 years old in Afghanistan have no recollection of what it was like to live under the Taliban rule prior to the US taking over. They don’t know about how brutal these animals are because they never experienced it themselves. Young women never had to wear the burkas, and the young men and women never had to adhere to the strictness of the Taliban’s Islamic rule.
He said that in many cases, Christians are well known in their communities, for better or for worse, and that makes them recognizable targets for the Taliban thugs who he says are famous for carrying out the death penalty right there on the spot.
Many Christians are in hiding now, and the Taliban know it, so they are going door to door searching for them based on their identities. Taliban thugs are going through people’s mobile phones looking for Bible apps. Then they kill the owner of the phone and look through the address book to find Christian friends.
“We’re hearing from reliable sources that the Taliban demand people’s phones, and if they find a downloaded Bible on your device, they will kill you immediately,” Dr. Rex Rogers, who is the president of Middle Eastern Christian TV network SAT-7 North America, told the Religious News Service.
“It’s incredibly dangerous right now for Afghans to have anything Christian on their phones. The Taliban have spies and informants everywhere,” he continued.
According to Open Doors USA, Afghanistan under Taliban rule is the second most dangerous place for Christians in the world.
Even though there were still persecutions known to happen over the last twenty years under US military authority, several thousand Afghan citizens found Jesus and became Christians. Now that the Americans are leaving, the same Christians have no security or protection of any kind as the Taliban raid their homes.
Please join the Christians around the world in prayer for our Aghan brothers and sisters.
