Liz Cheney lost her House leadership position last year and her primary this year. Instead, she received a seat on Nancy Pelosi‘s January 6 Committee and a strange new level of respect from Democrats. Well, it wasn’t exactly respect, so much as they recognized that her turning traitor to her own party was useful for them.
Now that Democrats have lost control of the House, partisan committee workers are turning on Cheney, according to the Washington Post. Awww. Too bad. So sad. Bye-bye, Liz.
It turns out that Liz Cheney was stupid enough to believe that the Democrats took her role on the committee seriously and that they didn’t use her as a prop in their Trump Derangement Syndrome quest to destroy the Republican Party and everything Donald Trump.
Fifteen former and current officials, who spoke anonymously to disclose internal debates, expressed fear that critical findings unconnected to Donald Trump would not be made public.
Several committee staff members were taken aback earlier this month when they learned that a draft report would be almost solely focused on Trump and the work of the committee’s “Gold Team,” leaving out reams of other investigative work.
Many revelations from the “Blue Team” — the panel that investigated the law enforcement and intelligence community’s failure to evaluate the approaching threat and prepare for the well-forecasted attack on the Capitol — were perhaps left on the cutting room floor or consigned to an appendix. The planned report would also curtail most of the work of the Green Team, which investigated the funding for the January 6 attack, and the Purple Team, which investigated militia organizations and extremism. There will be absolutely nothing on the pipe bomber.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL“We all came from prestigious jobs, dropping what we were doing because we were told this would be an important fact-finding investigation that would inform the public,” a former staffer said. “But when [the committee] became a Cheney 2024 campaign, many of us became discouraged.”
Jeremy Adler, Cheney’s spokesman, justified the focus on Trump while also blasting the staffers for providing “subpar material” riddled with “liberal biases.”
“Some staff have submitted subpar material for the report that reflects long-held liberal biases about federal law enforcement, Republicans, and sociological issues outside the scope of the Select Committee’s work. She won’t sign onto any ‘narrative’ that suggests Republicans are inherently racist or smears men and women in law enforcement, or suggests every American who believes God has blessed America is a white supremacist,” Alder added.
Nobody cares because Liz Cheney is done in the Republican Party.
What else can you say at this point besides who you thought these folks were? However, according to some Post sources, if it weren’t for Cheney, the Jan. 6 story would have become Meuller report number two:
According to two people familiar with the process, the committee would not be on schedule to publish a cohesive final report by the end of the year without Cheney’s leadership. One of these people classified some of the investigators’ findings as “uneven.”
“They were headed for a worse version of the Mueller report, which nobody read — and Cheney knew that,” said this person.
The committee’s spokesperson, Tim Mulvey, backed Cheney and chastised the “disgruntled personnel” described in the Post piece. “They’ve forgotten their duties as public servants and their cowardice is helping Donald Trump and others responsible for the violence of January 6th,” he stated.
That’s good, but do you think Tim Mulvey and the Democrats in charge of this realize who the dissatisfied employees are? The narrative implies that the internal conflict on the committee is well known to the politicians involved, some of whom are upset that internal disagreements are making headlines. So, would they fire everyone implicated, or will they simply move on in order to conceal the internal dissent?
Reading this, I can’t help but recall the Ryan Grim study about progressive advocacy groups’ failure to get anything done due of the level of internal dissent. I’m wondering if that’s not also the case here. It appears that a handful of far-left employees have concluded that Cheney’s presence is tainting the product and that she should be canceled. And the reaction from Cheney’s spokesman suggests that she’s attempting to keep some woke bullshit out of the final report because a) she knows it’s stupid and b) she knows it’ll be used to undermine the rest of the study.
A definite pattern is emerging at this point. Nearly all left-wing institutions these days morph into a battleground between the Democratic Party establishment and woke supremacists demanding more power and attention. As the committee folks lose their power, we’re going to be given a lot more delicious entertainment while the Left continue to eat their own.
