So, guess who’s suddenly found herself in the spotlight? Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas — yes, the same one who popped up out of relative obscurity — is now apparently the new face of the Democratic Party. Why? Because Donald Trump absolutely steamrolled November’s election, and now the Democrats need someone, anyone, to get in front of a camera and start throwing punches. Enter Crockett.
She sat down for an interview on Sunday and made it clear that if she ever gets her hands on the gavel as chair of the House Oversight Committee, Trump better watch out. Or at least prepare for another “inquiry.” Her words:
“I would absolutely at least do an inquiry,” Crockett said. “Absolutely. I mean, I think that there’s more than enough to inquire about. … I brought up Elon Musk earlier. We don’t understand what all they were doing, what kind of deals were even made for Elon to be given this amount of privilege.”
Wait — so now Elon Musk is part of the vast Trump conspiracy? What exactly is she accusing him of? Buying Twitter? Having too much “privilege”? That’s where this gets rich.
But it didn’t stop there. Crockett, never one to ease into accusations, goes on to talk about the evil merger of Verizon — yes, the phone company — and how it only happened after killing DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) programs. She continues:
“And then the pressure that he’s put on various organizations,” Crockett added. “We saw that the merger with Verizon was able to take place only once they said no diversity, equity, or inclusion. We know that they have put a ridiculous amount of pressure and seemingly are trying to pull back resources from the likes of Harvard, because Harvard decided that they were gonna push back against his illegality.”

Illegality? What does that even mean in this context? No one knows. But that doesn’t matter. In Crockett World, if you’re successful and conservative, you’re probably breaking the law.
Then she turns to Trump himself — naturally — accusing him of hustling law firms to work for free because, as she so gracefully puts it:
“We know that he’s shaken down so many of these law firms for free legal fees because he’s gonna need them,” Crockett said. “Because one thing that we know is that he likes to violate the law, whether it’s criminal or civil. So these things need to be fleshed out, and we need to fully understand. And in fact, that’s the Trump stuff.”
“He likes to violate the law, whether it’s criminal or civil.” That’s not a legal analysis, that’s just… a line you blurt out on cable news.
Crockett then reminds everyone that she’s eyeing a role with real teeth:
“And the reason I bring up the Trump stuff is that there is one committee in the Congress that has the authority to actually do oversight over the president,” Crockett added.
Right — the Oversight Committee. Because what Americans are really begging for is another round of political theater targeting Trump. Not relief from inflation, not border security, not fixing the economy — just more subpoenas and grandstanding on C-SPAN.
This is all the Democrats have left. They’re out of ideas, out of solutions, and apparently think Rep. Jasmine Crockett — armed with buzzwords and TV soundbites — is their ticket back into voters’ good graces. And the tactics that they are using are turning people off more than ever.
But for any of this to matter, Crockett needs two big wins. First, she has to get elected as the ranking member on June 24. Then, Democrats need to somehow retake the House in 2026. So basically, she’s talking about an investigation she can’t even launch yet.
Still, she’s pumped:
“It’s the Oversight Committee,” Crockett said. “It is the only one that has that ability. And so I think that we need to make sure that we do it. I think that no matter what happens, history needs to know the truth.”
Sure. Because if there’s one thing Americans are desperate for, it’s another multi-year, taxpayer-funded “truth mission” run by the same crowd that spent four years shouting Russia, Russia, Russia — and got it all wrong.
