According to a National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) report on April 2023 background checks, gun purchases increased in places where “radical measures” against Second Amendment rights have been implemented, are about to be implemented, or are awaiting the resolution of cases.
Americans know that their rights are being stripped from them by radical leftist Democrats who don’t care about the Second Amendment and the right to defend yourself, so they attempt to get grandfathered in when they learn of yet another attempt to disarm America.
According to Mark Oliva, NSSF Managing Director of Public Affairs, “April…[witnessed an] uptick of 1,369,296 FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) verifications.”
This increase, he says, “shows that there continues to be a steady appetite for lawful firearm ownership even as certain state governors and legislators are taking radical measures to infringe on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens to possess firearms, especially the Modern Sporting Rifle.”
Oliva observed that the urge to own firearms is especially strong when it comes to AR-15s, AK-47s, and versions of both rifle types. That’s because of the irrational attacks Democrats make on those two particular types of weapons.
He noted that Washington and Illinois, both of which passed “assault weapons” restrictions this year, witnessed significant increases in NICS checks for gun sales.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL“Washington state tallied 71,272 adjusted background checks in April 2023, compared to 49,641 in April 2022” according to Oliva, and “Illinois posted a total of 39,954 adjusted background checks in April 2023, compared to 35,790 in April 2022,” (The NSSF uses the phrase “adjusted background checks” to refer to screening that only apply to gun transactions.)
In Democrat-controlled Oregon, where tougher gun restrictions are routinely proposed, there were “43,574 adjusted background checks in April 2023, compared to 27,921 a year ago.”
When I applied for my first concealed carry permit, I waited for 90 minutes from beginning to end. My friends who live in different counties were jealous because it took them much longer. One friend, in liberal Philadelphia, said it took him eight weeks to be issued his concealed carry permit. When I was called to the counter to have my permit finalized, I made a comment on how quick the process was, and the deputy sheriff told me that it’s usually a lot quicker than an hour and a half. He said every time there is a mass shooting; we spike in the number of people who apply for concealed carry permits. That was the week of the Charlie Hebdo shootings in Paris, France, when Islamic loony tunes shot and killed 12 people at the publication over cartoons they published.
There are over 300 million guns in the United States. The overwhelming majority of gun owners are law-abiding people. The politicians know this. And they know the age-old adage that guns do not kill people, people kill people. So then, how come after every mass shooting, leftist politicians continually make the cry to disarm everyone, including law-abiding gun owners who have never used a gun in the commission of a crime? The answer is simple. They are tyrants who want to control the people and they know that it would be much easier to go full authoritarian if the people were disarmed. Never forget that an armed populace is a free populace.
