The notion of having “gun-free zones” is a familiar one to all of us. The signs we see outside schools are supposed to discourage would-be shooters from bringing their firearms to the area, but in reality, they end up acting as a beacon for criminals seeking out soft targets. I personally believe that gun-free school zone laws are responsible in a very large way for mass shootings at schools.
A mass shooter may be crazy, but he’s not stupid. If a crazy person wants to shoot as many people as he can without anyone shooting back at him he picks a gun free school zone to do so because he knows that there will be no responsible adults inside that building who will be able to fire back at him.
Gun free school zone laws are the most irresponsible thing the Democratic Party has ever come up with. All it does is make the Democrats and anti-gun liberals feel good about themselves, as if they actually did something to stop a lunatic from coming into the school and shooting as many people as they can.
The far-left NY Times seems to have finally come to its senses, following a recent murder in Times Square. Although the area was designated as a gun-free zone, the shooting took place, leading the paper to openly question the effectiveness of gun-free zone laws.

“The shooting was the first since the creation of the expansive, signposted zone, the police said in a statement, and it immediately renewed questions about whether such a designation can truly protect the area,” said the Times.

“A gun-free zone is not going to stop a criminal from carrying a gun,” said Tom Harris, a retired New York City police inspector and the president of the Times Square Alliance.
It’s surprising that the Times has finally acknowledged this, considering conservative media has been pointing out that gun-free zones are causing mass shootings. I’ve written numerous articles on the subject myself.
In fact, despite being gun-free zones, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the Pulse nightclub, Sandy Hook Elementary School, and Virginia Tech University were all targeted by mass shooters. I would say that nearly every mass shooting over the last ten years has been committed in a gun-free zone.
A study from the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) in 2018 found that “gun-free zones” were the cause of 97.8% of mass shootings over a 68-year period.
For some unknown reason, many people still believe that the New York Times is worth anything more than the bottom of a dirty bird cage. When they pushed gun free school zones, like all the other liberals in America, they never took into account that putting up a sign does not stop a lunatic with a gun.
The problem with liberals is they always go after the guns, the inanimate object, instead of going after the people who misuse guns for violent acts. Guns are not evil. Guns do not have the capability of being evil anymore than a pair of hammer. It’s how you use these things that make the difference and law-abiding people do not misuse and abuse guns. In fact, I would go one further and say that all gun control laws only affect law abiding gun owners, the people who would not go on shooting sprees. And that’s because criminals do not obey gun laws. That’s why we call them criminals. So it’s a good thing that the New York Times has caught up to the rest of us, but they are decades too late and many deaths occurred because they were part of the leftist cabal who pushed for these asinine laws.
