Ilhan Omar Melts Down as Massive Somali Fraud Ring Explodes

Things just keep getting worse for Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, a politician who already lives at the bottom of the moral food chain. The indictments are piling up around her political base, and this scandal is so massive that even Democrats can’t spin it into something cute. This is not a minor bookkeeping mistake. This is what prosecutors openly call the biggest COVID fraud scheme in American history. No wonder Omar is panicking. Once you hear what she just said, it becomes obvious why.

This entire mess comes out of Minneapolis, the same community that built Omar’s political career. More than seventy people have now been arrested. The number keeps growing. The total theft is around a quarter of a billion dollars. That money was supposed to feed hungry children during the pandemic, and instead it fed criminals who treated the federal treasury like their own personal ATM.

The whole operation ran through a group called Feeding Our Future. At the center was a restaurant called Safari, which appears to be nothing more than a storefront for a money laundering scheme. Safari claimed it served five thousand meals a day. Seven days a week. To children. Meanwhile, the operation only spent about two thousand dollars on actual food. You do not need a PhD in accounting to see what happened there. In total, more than two hundred fifty million dollars disappeared.

Then it got worse. Federal counterterrorism officials now say that some of those stolen Minnesota welfare dollars flowed straight to al-Shabaab, the al-Qaeda affiliate in Somalia. The money traveled through the same remittance channels the Somali community uses to send funds back home. Somalia’s economy runs on those remittances. Terror groups skim off a percentage because they control territory. This means Minnesota taxpayers were involuntarily paying tribute to a terror organization. One analyst put it bluntly. The Minnesota taxpayer is the single largest funder of al-Shabaab.

And yes, it keeps getting worse.

A man named Ousman Camara has now become the 77th person charged. He ran a small grocery store and claimed to serve one thousand meals a day to children. He served almost none. He bought himself a building, wired more than one hundred thousand dollars overseas, and paid close to ninety thousand dollars in kickbacks. The most incredible detail here is that Camara was kicked out of the SNAP program years ago for suspected fraud. Minnesota officials still approved him for this child nutrition program. They sent him hundreds of thousands of dollars anyway.

You want to talk about real fraud. Look at the people who approved him.

Another man became the 78th defendant two days ago. Another Somali. He claimed he served six thousand meals a day in a town called Pelican Rapids. That number is twice the size of the entire town. He and his partner pocketed more than a million dollars, bought real estate, and traveled the world on taxpayer funds.

The fraud is so widespread throughout the Somali community in Minneapolis that four Minnesota Republican congressmen have demanded a full federal investigation into whether Minnesota taxpayers were funding terrorism.

President Trump is not waiting. He revoked temporary protected status for almost one thousand Somalis in Minneapolis. They are being sent back now. Trump’s move could not be clearer. You steal from the American people, or you funnel money to terrorists, or you run a scam that robs children of food, then you are not staying here. Not a single minute longer.

Now the question becomes obvious. What is Ilhan Omar saying about all this? Is she condemning it? Is she demanding accountability? Is she apologizing to the American people after her own community was caught in the middle of a quarter of a billion dollars in fraud?

Not a chance.

Omar held a press conference after Trump revoked TPS, and her statement was exactly what you would expect from someone more passionate about protecting a political tribe than protecting American taxpayers. Her response was a cartoon version of political repulsiveness.

“Somalis are not terrorizing this nation. We are helping it thrive. Somalis have always seen as a fabric—have seen themselves as a fabric of this nation. So not only are we not going anywhere… not only are we not going anywhere… we are not going to allow anybody to make us feel less Minnesotan or less American.”

So there it is. Omar thinks the real victims are Somalis. Not the American taxpayers who had millions stolen. Not the children who never received the food they were promised. Not the people who now learn their money helped an al-Qaeda affiliate.

According to Omar, Somalis are the fabric of America. She is not lifting a finger to acknowledge the fraud. She is furious that anyone discovered it. Chris Rufo pointed out that Omar appears more outraged at the exposure of the scheme than at the theft itself.

Rufo also points to yet another expensive scam in Minneapolis that surrounds fake autism treatment centers where the scammers stole hundreds of millions of dollars from taxpayers.

Minnesota may be drowning in fraud, and this could be only the start. Omar is angrier at the sunlight than at the act of stealing. There is a reason for that. People like Omar subscribe to an ideology that argues America built its wealth by plundering others. They believe justice now requires those same groups to plunder America in return.

This Somali scam in Minneapolis was exactly that. A way to plunder the United States. All brought to you by the American taxpayer.

This worldview comes from something called post-Americanism. It has taken over the Democrat party. Post-Americanism teaches that America is evil, racist, unfair, and unworthy of loyalty. It demands that the old America be replaced with a political revolution that started in 1964 and never ended.

Some Democrats go even further. Elie Mystal of MSNBC openly claims that every law passed before 1964 is invalid because the United States was an apartheid state. And if you take that idea to its logical end, then the Constitution itself must be discarded since it predates everything they deem legitimate.

This is the mindset behind Omar and her colleagues. They do not feel loyalty to America. They feel loyalty to somewhere else. Representative Delia Ramirez proved this while speaking in Mexico City. She told the crowd in Spanish, “I am a proud Guatemalan before I am a proud American.” The crowd cheered. A sitting United States representative told a foreign nation that her first allegiance is not to the United States.

This is what post-Americanism creates. It takes loyalty and moves it to ethnic and tribal identities. The Democrat party has become the party of ethnic nationalism. BLM. La Raza. Somali nationalism. Guatemalan nationalism. The party publishes endless lectures about unity while behaving like a collection of competing tribal factions.

President Trump has made one thing unmistakable. This ends with him. Post-Americanism stops at the White House door. America First is the future. And if Ilhan Omar cannot handle that, she might need to start thinking about another country to represent.
