Daytime television rarely gets more grating than this. The hosts manage to recycle the same predictable political lines while also getting basic vocabulary wrong. Nobody watching expected The View Shrew to resist turning DEI into ammunition against Republicans, and sure enough, they didn’t. The catch is they do not seem to have any real understanding of what the term actually means. That hasn’t stopped them from discussing it like experts. We call that the Dunning-Kruger effect. It’s a cognitive bias where people with limited knowledge or competence in a specific area greatly overestimate their own skills.
AOC is a great example. She talks all the time about things she knows nothing about, and the less she knows about a topic, the more she acts like an authority on the subject.
Whoopi Goldberg had her moment when she said on The View that Jill Biden should be made the Surgeon General because she is a great doctor.
Sunny Hostin, however, voiced her frustration when Darline Graham took over the remainder of her late brother’s term. Sen. Lindsey Graham’s seat now belongs to the first female senator from that state, but Hostin acted like something had gone terribly wrong. From there, the conversation spiraled into the kind of segment nobody could sit through sober.
That was the strange part. The show had supposedly gotten a historic first, yet somehow the panel still found a reason to complain. Instead of discussing the appointment with any sense of perspective, they turned it into another grievance session. Facts became secondary almost immediately, which is usually when The View feels most comfortable.

At least Anna Navarro said some nice things about the late Senator from South Carolina.

None of this is a DEI story. It never was one. What viewers got instead was another empty rant from Hostin, delivered with total confidence and zero accuracy. Darline Graham Nordone, Lindsey’s sister, is filling in as a temporary replacement through the primary and the general election.
Lindsey hasn’t even been dead three full days, and Hostin goes into a rude attack on the man. What a low-class sleazebucket. I think she’s trying to get Joy Behar’s position as most disliked person on daytime TV.
A little historical context would go a long way here too. Nothing about this appointment breaks new ground. Relatives have taken over unfinished terms in office for decades, and no amount of pretending changes that fact.
