Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., one of the leading voices behind the MAHA movement, walked into CNN on Sunday knowing exactly what kind of interview awaited him.
Dana Bash probably thought she was setting another predictable trap. Kennedy had other plans.
Instead of accepting CNN’s version of the COVID-19 years, Kennedy confronted Bash about the media’s conduct during the pandemic. He accused the network of helping authorities silence dissent while presenting questionable policies as unquestionable science.
The exchange began when Kennedy argued that protecting constitutional rights should remain the government’s first responsibility during any future health emergency.

Bash clearly did not appreciate hearing that. Kennedy did not appear especially concerned about her feelings.
Of course she wanted to move on. CNN spent years helping officials discredit physicians who challenged the approved COVID19 narrative. Revisiting that record might force someone at the network to explain what happened.
Kennedy refused to let her escape that easily.

Kennedy spoke about the rising COVID-19 death toll on a chyron that was displayed for every CNN show 24/7 in an effort to make viewer thing Donald Trump was responsible. How do we know this? Because as soon as Joe Biden assumed office, CNN removed the chyron.
Kennedy said the quiet part directly to her face. “Yeah, of course you want to move on because you were part of the problem!”
Bash immediately denied any responsibility. That was predictable. Members of the corporate press rarely acknowledge their own role in a public failure, especially when that failure involves Anthony Fauci, censorship, or COVID-19 policy.
CNN did not merely report what health officials said. The network often treated those statements as settled truth. Anyone who raised legitimate questions risked being smeared as dangerous, ignorant, or dishonest.
Then came the vaccine discussion.
Bash appeared to believe she had found Kennedy’s vulnerable spot. She warned that she would not allow him to make claims she considered untrue.

At that point, Bash could have named a study. She could have identified its authors or explained its findings. Instead, she offered a broad claim involving vaccine misinformation and deaths that supposedly could have been prevented.
RFK Jr. simply asked her to name a single study that said the COVID-19 vaccine did more good than harm to children. He asked it because we know that children were hardly affected at all by COVID-19. They got a light case of the sniffles, if that.
Bash had confidently invoked the authority of unnamed scientists. Kennedy asked her to produce the evidence behind her claim. Suddenly, the conversation became much less comfortable.
For years, Americans were told to trust the experts. “TRUST THE SCIENCE!” Fauci even claimed that he was the science. They were rarely encouraged to inspect the evidence for themselves. When Kennedy asked for a specific study on live television, Bash could not immediately provide one.
CNN will probably spend days producing fact-checks designed to repair the damage. There may be panels filled with familiar “experts”, or what I like to call Narrative Engineers. explaining why viewers should disregard what they just watched with their own eyes. CNN has used the expertocracy to support their factless claims for years.
Kennedy also explained how he believes the country should prepare for another pandemic.

Kennedy’s point was straightforward. Doctors treating actual patients should have been heard. Government officials should not have suppressed inconvenient medical opinions simply because they threatened the official narrative.
The government should also not have forced social media companies to censor free speech that either questioned the government’s policy on Covid-19 or licensed medical doctors’ information on treatments for their own patients that were working.
Bash said Kenndy placed the blame squarely on Fauci and asked if President Trump should be blamed for the damage done by COVID-19 and the US response, and he landslammed her with truth.

The interview took a turn Bash clearly never anticipated. Kennedy seized control of the conversation, putting CNN’s COVID-19 coverage under the microscope and leaving its host scrambling to justify decisions the network would rather nobody revisit.
