Congressional members and their staffers received some frenzied messages this week from Americans and Afghan allies who are desperately trying to get out of Afghanistan.
Many outlets are reporting on the problems the people stranded there by the Biden administration are facing as they try to get to Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul having to go through a number of Taliban checkpoints.
We reported on one American who called the US State Department and told them he has his passport in his hands and is ready to go, and they hung up on him.
The Washington Examiner received messages that reveal just how serious the situation was during the final days leading up to the last flight that left on August 30.
An American citizen of Aghan descent who worked for Representative Don Bacon (R-NE) said the Taliban’s fighters “were creating as much problem as they could.”
He said the State Department told him to get to the Interior Ministry in Kabul, and once he got there he was confronted by a Taliban guard. When he told the Taliban guy his predicament, the Taliban terrorist said to him, “Go and tell the State Department to f— themselves.” What a nice chap.

Almost 170 Afghans were also killed by the Abbey Gate of the airport.
“I know it was stupid, but I took just my chance,” he said. “I ran towards the soldiers. I had my passport in my hand — shouting that I’m an American citizen.” Thankfully, the man is back in the United States, along with his wife and their four children.
Lawmakers learned that the Taliban didn’t want Afghan-Americans to get through the checkpoints even when they showed their dark blue US passports. They wanted them to stay, only to be hunted down at a later time.
Mike Garcia (R-CA) received a video of an Afghan-American woman sitting in her vehicle at a checkpoint holding her children’s passports asking him if there was anything she can do at that point.
“This is why you don’t rely on the Taliban to be the ones monitoring the checkpoints,” Garcia told the Examiner.
It was revealed in the aftermath of the evacuation debacle that the Biden administration was offered to handle security at the Kabul airport and they declined and handed over security to the Taliban, trying to make the terrorist group appear to be an equal partner with the US. Joe Biden treated the Taliban as if they were a legitimate government. Though it was General Kenneth McKenzie, the US Central Command commander, who turned down the offer of US military handling security, Biden should be tried for treason for allowing it to happen.
We had State Department people saying that the Taliban guaranteed safe passage to anyone who wanted to leave the country in the midst of many people reporting they tried to go through the checkpoints and were beaten by Taliban fighters.
On Monday, McKenzie described the Taliban’s conduct as “very pragmatic and very businesslike” in helping to secure the facility. Did that include the beat downs on people trying to get there?
Despite McKenzie’s rhetoric of his Taliban buddies, an American who contacted Bacon’s office and spoke with his deputy chief of staff, Felix Ungerman, why attempting to get to the airport saying that a Taliban fighter opened fire at one point.
“He goes, ‘Oh my god, he’s shooting.’ And I said, ‘Please get away from there, go get to safety,’” Ungerman recalled to the Examiner. “His phone cut off while I could hear gunshots going off, and I couldn’t get in touch with him again. I tried calling his cellphone every couple of hours to see if I could get him, tried an email, sent him a text message. And it wasn’t until [Tuesday] morning that he actually texted me back and said, ‘Yeah, I’m OK, but now what do I do?’”
Can you imagine Biden allowed this to happen, and no one is calling for his head?
“I’m like, ‘You get to somewhere safe, and you stay there until we can — our government can offer some solutions to help you.'”
Garcia pointed out that his office had great success getting people out of Afghanistan by ignoring the State Department saying, “we weren’t necessarily beholden or waiting on the State Department.”
“In fact, all of our successes, we ended up getting roughly 97 folks out successfully, these were all folks that we were able to do so through our own channels and folks on the ground there that were supporting mostly American citizens and SIVs [Special Immigrant Visa holders] who otherwise would have been stopped by the bureaucracy, frankly, by the State Department,” he said. By the utterly worthless Biden administration.
President Biden, delusional as ever, said among some of his remarks about the botched Afghanistan withdrawal turned evacuation, that ISIS-K was an “enemy” of the Taliban, suggesting a common interest between Washington and Afghanistan’s new rulers.
The question is why would an American president put the security of American citizens in the hands of Islamic terrorists who are our enemy?
