NEW YORK — The New York City mayoral race has reached new levels of absurdity. With Zohran Mamdani, a self-proclaimed socialist whose campaign promises sound more like a utopian college seminar than workable policy, leading in the polls by a mile, Andrew Cuomo has found himself cast as the “better choice.” Yes, you read that right. Andrew Cuomo, who was ousted from office over a sex scandal, and not because he murdered 15,000 elderly people in nursing homes by forcing COVID patients in with them.
Cuomo’s latest campaign ad, released this week, lit up social media before Cuomo allegedly took it down after widespread pushback. The ad depicted a caricature of Mamdani’s open-door policies, but the way the ad handled explaining said policies was hilarious and, at the same time, sparked some faux outrage claiming it was racist. Things like a black man dressed as a pimp and another as a thief meant to symbolize the crime and chaos critics say Mamdani’s proposals would unleash on New York. Hilarious to some, offensive to others, the ad was instantly branded “racist” by The Perpetually Peeved Party and amplified by The Professional Victims Guild online.
I have to ask: Since the internet is forever and the video was bound to keep circulating after the campaign removed it, was pulling it actually a clever move by the Cuomo campaign, letting the Triggered Tribe of Lefties spread the message while Cuomo avoids taking the blame?
Naturally, progressive (socialist) voices immediately labeled the ad “racist,” while Cuomo allies insisted the imagery, though brash, reflected the reality of Mamdani’s reckless platform. “People are upset with the optics,” one supporter remarked, “but not a single person is denying the policies are exactly what Mondami is running on.”
WATCH:
The running joke in political circles is that Mamdani is so far left, so unhinged in his vision for the city, that even Andrew Cuomo, scandal-plagued, disgraced, and politically radioactive, now looks like the sane option on Election Day.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNELWhether the ad’s removal was voluntary or a quiet concession to political correctness remains unclear. What is clear: this race has become less about who New Yorkers want to lead and more about who they fear the least. So, mission accomplished, Andrew Cuomo.
