On Sunday, self-avowed democratic socialist Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) (AOC) said that Republicans have been using “wokeness” as a means to distract Democrats from pursuing racial justice.
On that, I have to agree, but obviously for different reasons. “Racial justice” doesn’t mean actual justice in the way that non crazy people think of it. For leftists, anything with the word “justice” behind it, in the manner that the woke use it, is awful. It’s like “equity” in that government forcefully takes from one group to give to another. Equal outcome instead of opportunity. AOC doesn’t see it, but it’s unamerican and she owns it. Equity is behind every issue the woke supremacy talks about when they use the term justice.
The congresswoman from Brooklyn created a thread of tweets where she said that Democrats believing in a “woke problem” will hurt their chances for reelection because they “rely on the racial justice issue of voting rights.”
She actually got that backward. Last Tuesday’s elections showed that Americans are tired of woke policies like the “Defund the Police” movement that made woke politicians feel good about themselves while the folks who live in those neighborhoods had to deal with rising crime rates.
Her words could be taken as AOC wants Democrats to continue to cheat in elections and worrying about a problem with wokeness will stop that. When she used the term “racial justice” for “voting rights” she’s talking about the lies that progressives use about Republicans supporting voter suppression. There is no voter suppression in red states. In fact, the litany of election integrity laws that came about after the great theft of 2020, that progressives have claimed are racist laws set to stop black people from voting, actually makes it easier to vote while making it harder to cheat. Democrats can’t have that.

The dingbat congresswoman says that Fox News doesn’t just indoctrinate right-wingers but also serves to trick Democrats into thinking that racial justice is “controversial.” Well, it is controversial when you make it up. That’s the controversial part.

It all sounds like a backlash against longtime Democrat strategist James Carville when he recently said “stupid wokeness” was the reason Democrats lost big in elections last Tuesday.
“What went wrong is just stupid wokeness. Alright, don’t just look at Virginia and New Jersey. Look at Long Island, look at Buffalo, look at Minneapolis, even look at Seattle, Washington. I mean, this defund the police lunacy, this take Abraham Lincoln’s name off of schools. I mean that … people see that,” Carville said.
“It’s just really … has a suppressive effect all across the country on the Democrats. Some of these people need to go to a ‘woke detox center’ or something,” he said. “They’re expressing a language that people just don’t use, and there’s backlash and a frustration at that.”
AOC said Carville was simply repeating talking points right from the echo chamber of Fox News. And I submit that AOC uses talking points straight from the echo chamber of Sesame Street.

“Like the average audience for people seriously using the word ‘woke’ in a 2021 political discussion are James Carville and Fox News pundits, so that should tell you all you need to know,” Ocasio-Cortez said on Twitter on Friday.
“And before people disingenuously complain ‘woke’ is denigrating to older people, it’s actually pundits like Carville using terms like ‘woke’ to insult voters under 45 that’s denigrating,” she later added. “Don’t wonder why youth turnout falls when Dems talk about them like this. We need everyone.”
