On MSNBC’s “All In,” on Tuesday, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) (AOC) claimed that the Supreme Court’s reluctance to impose repercussions for any ethical breach is heading to “authoritarianism, tyranny, and abuse of power in the United States.”
For goodness’ sake, the House has a “hush money” fund to pay off lewd behavior and sexual assault actions by members.
AOC is fundamentally stupid in that she can’t accept that the judiciary is a separate and equal branch of government. She has no power over another branch of government. The justices do not have to listen to the rantings of a 34-year-old leftie loon from the Bronx.
Ocasio-Cortez declared, “Justice Alito’s position is laughable in this. This idea that he can be, and that the court should be accountable to nobody and that the only person they should be accountable to are themselves. This kind of setup is how we should be having ethics standards for the highest and most consequential court in the land. It is completely unacceptable, and not only is it unacceptable, but to have anyone of our coequal branches be completely unaccountable to the others is paving the path to authoritarianism, tyranny, the abuse of power in the United States.”
Ocasio-Cortez continued, “It is structurally, completely unsustainable. So, it is not a question of if Congress has jurisdiction and power over the Supreme Court. It is what power are we going to exercise in order to reign in a fundamentally unaccountable and rogue court?
Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) was with AOC during the segment and in the video, you can see him laughing and trying to disguise it as smiling.

What the lefties don’t seem to understand is that this so-called SCOTUS “crisis” was completely manufactured by the Democrats. They just cannot accept that the US Supreme Court is a separate and equal branch of government, and they don’t have to listen to the juvenile rantings of progressive Democrats whose goal is to get conservative justices off the court.
Notice how they only ever mention Alito, Thomas, and sometimes Kavanaugh. They never mention the leftie justices who have also accepted gifts over the years. Conservatives don’t mention them either because they understand that justices are allowed to accept gifts. For goodness’ sake, when Justice Sotomayor (who I like personally but also realize she’s a ditz on constitutional law) gives a speech, one of her conditions is that the hosting organization has to purchase a certain number of her children’s books.
And the argument that justices have accepted gifts in the past and didn’t report them is absurd. No justices reported them in the past because the court didn’t have rules back then to do so.
AOC talks about authoritarianism on the high court and doesn’t get the irony of her authoritarian stance that Alito must go because he flew a flag called “An Appeal to Heaven” that goes back to the Revolutionary War, where they were flown on naval ships under the direct command of George Washington. She calls that a “threat to our democracy,” yet she says absolutely nothing about the Biden administration using lawfare against political opponents by weaponizing the DOJ and our justice system. She never mentions that the SCOTUS sided with Nancy Pelosi on the fact that a president does not have the authority to cancel debt, and yet authoritarian Joe Biden said “Screw the court” and now brags about defying the ruling and continues to buy votes by canceling student loan debt and forcing everyone reading this to pay off those loans.
The SCOTUS polices itself just like any other branch of government, and it is none of AOC’s business.
