I am tired of the type of journalism that prevails today at most news outlets. It is glaringly apparent that a majority of reporters no longer believe in objective truth, but act as activists and advocates of a political ideology.
Journalists are not supposed to create the news. They are supposed to report the news. Remember when Fox News used to say, “We report. You Decide”? A large part of that network no longer believes it. The other cable news networks are a lost cause and are unsalvageable, in my opinion.
Don’t get me wrong. There are a lot of great reporters out there who have not been infected or frightened by the progressive/woke pathogens, and they do good reporting. Most, but not all of those are now called “Independent Journalists.” Reporters like Matt Taibbi, Laura Loomer, Megyn Kelly, Glenn Greenwald, Tucker Carlson, Bill O’Reilly, and others. But there are not enough of them to save the industry from scrutiny.
It’s also a pretty sad state of affairs when bloggers are considered more honest than news anchors, but today, they are.
What it all boils down to is there are two types of journalism: Correspondence Theory of Truth and Performative Theory of Truth.
Correspondence Theory of Truth means that the statements you are reporting match facts that have already been based. It’s why we used to refer to reporters as correspondents.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNELAristotle’s definition of truth was, “To say of what is that it is not, or of what is not that it is, is false, while to say of what is that it is, and of what is not that it is not, is true.” I don’t think most of today’s journalists would know who Aristotle was, let alone what his definition means.
For example, “It is wet outside” would be a truth based on the fact that it is raining.
“It is cold outside” would be a true statement based on the current temperature outside.
“Joe Biden took a bribe” would be based on a Burisma whistleblower who said he was the one who paid Joe Biden the bribe and provided the documents to prove it.
Today, what the overwhelming majority of the mainstream news media uses is Performative Truth, where you make something up to match your preconceived notions. It is when reporters fabricate their story to make it a reality. It is making a declaration of their truth and not providing any evidence to prove it. It’s more of an authoritative pronouncement that creates the state of affairs that it pronounces. The statement is not related to a known fact. The declaration statement itself creates the so-called fact instead.
An example of a performative truth would be, “There is no evidence that Joe Biden took a bribe. Therefore, this impeachment inquiry is only because the Republicans are being vindictive.”
This example is being used by nearly every mainstream news media person today because they want the people who read or listen to them to believe that Joe Biden did not take a bribe. The corresponding truth says he did, but these people are not interested in telling the truth. They are more activists than journalists and they advocate for left-wing causes.
The nature of the performative example in simplistic form would be like declaring, “It is not cold outside,” even though the temperature reading says it is 32 degrees Fahrenheit. This example is so evident that it doesn’t need to be debated. But performative reporters try to muddy the language up with slight half-truths when making declarative statements that are based on no facts.
Advocacy journalism is where reporters attempt to fit their preconceived notions into the performative theory framework. “We need to punish those who say that Joe Biden took a bribe since we have already established that there is no evidence.” Or how about, “We need to censor people who say the 2020 election was stolen because there is no evidence. It was the most pristine election of all time.”
Confirmation Bias is when a reporter specifically bases their statements on a prior belief that was done using performative theory. It would go something like, “Well, we know that Joe Biden didn’t take a bribe. That’s already been established.” Established by a fabricated performative declaration with no evidence provided for proof. Do you see how this works?
So, the next time you hear a so-called journalist make a declarative statement that makes you cringe up front, ask them to provide proof of their statement. If they point to other networks that have said it, repeat the request for proof. If they try to bluff their way out of it, repeat your request for proof. Make them earn their lies. Maybe if the American people got used to calling them out more often for fabricating news, they would be too embarrassed to continue doing it. Hey, a guy can dream, can’t he?
