Reid Hoffman, a billionaire Democrat and co-founder of LinkedIn, has halted payments to former Governor Nikki Haley‘s Republican nomination campaign, according to a source familiar with the situation.
The financial suspension marks the first time a Haley donor has cut his support since Tuesday. Haley was the establishment favorite to attack former President Donald Trump, the de facto Republican nominee.
Doesn’t it speak volumes that Haley was taking money from a Democratic Party donor? I haven’t seen a single mainstream story questioning a Republican candidate running for president for taking money from a Democrat donor. Or why would a Democrat billionaire back a Republican running for president? It’s like both sides had an unspoken agreement they didn’t want to talk about. And the fake news media went right along with it.
The New York Times alleged that Hoffman had previously given $250,000 to a pro-Haley super PAC.
“If America is to avoid another Trump presidency, it will be because Trump loses an election next year,” Hoffman said. “If he is to lose, it will either be to Nikki Haley in the primary or Joe Biden in the general.”
Hoffman also stated that he gave to Haley’s GOP campaign after listening to JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon, who urged the elites to support her.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNELAfter his victory in New Hampshire, Trump appears to have disarmed the donor class’s influence over the Republican political process. The New York Times conceded that the donor class lost complete control of the Republican Party on Tuesday night and is now “a desperate group of bystanders” after Trump burned Haley in New Hampshire.
The donor class spent more than $167 million in Iowa and New Hampshire opposing Trump. However, pro-Haley supporters failed to get their candidate within a single digit of Trump’s overwhelming triumph. While pro-Trump expenditures in Iowa and New Hampshire totaled only 34.1 million, pro-Haley spent $31 million in New Hampshire alone, finishing second.
Lisa Lerer, Maggie Haberman, and Jonathan Swan wrote, “Tuesday night’s results showed that the time is coming to sit shiva for the Republican Party of the Bushes, Cheneys, and Romneys. And the donor class that once played an outsize role in shaping the party is now a desperate group of bystanders.”
