Did you catch this bit of drama? FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino is reportedly locked in a heated dispute with Attorney General Pam Bondi over her mishandling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, according to Axios. According to several sources, Bongino “took a day off from work” on Friday after “clashing” with Bondi. The flashpoint was a DOJ/FBI memo revealing there is no evidence Epstein had a “client list” and that an investigation found Epstein “committed suicide.”
According to NBC News, “Bongino did not report to work Friday amid speculation about his whereabouts, said a source familiar with the perspectives of DOJ leaders who also believes that Bongino is considering leaving.”
The outlet added, “Bongino is out of control furious,” the person who has spoken with the deputy FBI director said. “This destroyed his career. He’s threatening to quit and torch Pam unless she’s fired.”
When Bongino didn’t show up Friday, some insiders believed “he had quit.” Administration officials, however, insist he’s still on the job even as tension over the Epstein case mounts. One source close to Bongino went so far as to say “he ain’t coming back.” Axios also reports that “two sources familiar with Bongino’s position say he was increasingly displeased with Bondi’s handling of the Epstein case because she had publicly overpromised and undelivered.”
“This came after a confrontation Wednesday at a meeting with Bondi and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles during which Bongino and Patel were asked about a news story suggesting they were dissatisfied with the decision not to release any additional Epstein files, according to the source familiar with the perspectives of DOJ leaders and an additional source familiar with the meeting,” NBC News said.
Can confirm it’s Bongino or Bondi – and the pick is obvious.

The scene got even more heated during a recent cabinet meeting. A reporter asked Bondi why a minute was missing from the “jailhouse tape on the night” Epstein was killed. President Trump snapped back, asking if the reporter was “still talking about Jeffrey Epstein” at a moment when Texas was dealing with devastating flash flooding. He called it “a desecration.”
🚨 SCOOP 🚨 @dbongino is now seriously thinking about RESIGNING from the FBI as Deputy Director over Pam Blondi’s mishandling of the Jeffrey Epstein file release and the lack of transparency at the DOJ.

Bondi didn’t back down. She reminded everyone that in February, during an interview on Fox, she was asked about the alleged “client list.” Her response was, “It’s sitting on my desk to be reviewed,” referring to the file alongside the JFK and MLK files. Then she added, “Also, to the tens of thousands of videos, they turned out to be child porn downloaded by that disgusting Jeffrey Epstein. Child porn is what they were, never going to be released, never going to see the light of day.”

Scott Jennings on CNN used the same argument I’ve made for why they couldn’t release the Epstein list and that Bondi screwed up the messaging, and it didn’t have to be this way.

Full disclosure: I have been a P1 listener for Dan Bongino’s Podcast and later his syndicated radio show. A P1 Listener is someone who listens every day from the beginning of the show through to the end. When you listen to a host of a political talk show for four hours a day for years, you get to know a little about their personality and their integrity. At the beginning of this circus over the Epstein files, I had the feeling that if it went badly, and thanks to Pam Bondi, it has, that Bongino would resign. His reputation and his integrity mean more to him than anything. He is one of the good ones in a city where there are far and few of them. It’s just obvious to anyone who has listened to his show for any amount of time. At this point, in my opinion, it would take an awful lot of convincing for him to stay. And there would have to be a reckoning for Pam Bondi’s behavior.
