Six months to the day after the January 6 Capitol riot (that lasted 2 and a half hours), Acting Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman said that reforms that were made for the department are now being implemented. In what has to be an unconstitutional move, the Capitol Police are going to be opening field offices across the country. They say it’s justified and a necessity to offer more protection for lawmakers. We have an FBI, a US Marshals Service, and a Secret Service, all of which have experience in protection services.
They don’t have the authority to open field offices outside of their jurisdiction. It’s called the “Capitol” Police for a reason. Oversight for the Capitol Police is headed by the United States Senate Sergeant at Arms who reports directly to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and the US House of Representatives Sergeant at Arms who reports directly to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). Anything they do at this point concerning January 6 is based on the political motivations of those two.
For some perspective, when Adolf Hitler (yes, I went there) was elected Chancellor of Germany, he told the Kaiser that the German states were being hit with large waves of crime. Totalitarians always claim a “crisis” in order to take away rights from the people.
In order to get a handle on the crime, the future Nazi leader convinced the Kaiser that they needed a national police force so that a national police effort could be run from a centralized location. That police force was named Schutzstaffel, which means “Protective Echelon,” better known as the Nazi SS. They were originally bodyguards for Hitler and members of his entourage and later became the most feared organization in all of Nazi Germany.
To be clear, I’m not comparing the Capitol Police Department to the Nazis. I’m merely pointing out that we need to be vigilant by asking questions on why the DC elites feel they need to expand a police force that is supposed to protect the nation’s Capitol and figure out what are Pelosi and Schumer’s real goals.
California and Florida are the first two states that will see the expansion of the Capitol Police Department. I’m wondering how Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will respond to that?

They were not supposed to be more powerful than each individual state in the United States. They were only supposed to do things of nationhood so that the states didn’t have to worry about them. Creating a national Capitol police force is a direct violation of the US Constitution and the spirit of our federal system of government.
I believe the Democrats are doing this so that they will have a federal police force that will be keeping tabs on what’s going on in states. There is no reason to have Capitol Police field offices anywhere outside of Washington, DC.
Pittman testified to Congress that total threats against lawmakers have doubled since 2017. While that may be true, the proper response is, so what? They don’t have jurisdiction outside of the nation’s Capitol.
Spokesman Tim Barber said that the expansion will allow Capitol Police to monitor and investigate threats against lawmakers more efficiently. He said that the January 6 riot exposed “serious deficiencies in the Capitol Police’s gathering and dissemination of intelligence, preparedness, and training.” Okay, while that is probably true, there are many questions that arise from that statement. How come they won’t release the thousands of hours of video that was taken that day? Could it be because in the videos we would see that Capitol Police officers were opening the doors to the Capitol and inviting people inside; or other segments of videos showing Capitol Police were removing barricades that were put in place to block protesters from entering certain areas and waving people in? Through their own documentation, we know that there was at least one group that plotted to breach the Capitol building that day and that there were undercover FBI agents in that group. How come we haven’t heard the details? Is it because the group was made up of anti-Trump leftists who wanted to cause mayhem in the name of Trump supporters? We know that some leftists were there wearing MAGA hats.
I think the first thing they should do is tell the American people who the officer is who murdered Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, and why they are protecting him.
I don’t think anyone should trust the Capitol Police expanding their jurisdiction without those basic questions being resolved first. The American people deserve to know the truth of why they are holding hundreds of people who were there that day in jail cells, some of them in solitary confinement and for the most part all they did was trespassing and in many of those cases, you can’t call it that when the police were opening doors and removing barricades to let people inside. That’s called entrapment.
Of the reforms mentioned, which are already taking place, they include better training for officers, obtaining better and more protective equipment, and getting mental health services for officers. On a side note, why would we allow officers to go on duty if they are in need of robust mental health services?
While Democrats and leadership in the Capitol Police Department continue to focus on right-wing extremism as the biggest problem in the country, it’s a political stunt at best. What happened at the Capitol on January 6 was a one-off event and anyone who tells you differently is lying to you. While Democrats continually argue that the Capitol riot was the worst thing that’s happened there since the War of 1812 – another lie based on the historical record – they completely ignore the nightly riots that took place in Democrat-run cities across the country throughout the summer of 2020 after the death of George Floyd. Democrats are going to keep arguing the January 6 narrative all the way to the 2022 midterm elections. And if that works out for them they will increase their stranglehold over the rights of American citizens with even more power grabs like expanding the Capitol Police across the country. All of it is nothing more than a political ploy to gain more power over you.
