So, Al Gore is back, and he’s really leaning into the drama. During a cozy little gathering in San Francisco to kick off Climate Week (you know, where elites sip kombucha and lecture the rest of us about carbon footprints from their private jets), the former VP and failed presidential candidate decided to dust off his most dramatic historical comparison and take a swing at Donald Trump.
According to Gore, the Trump administration is a full-blown constitutional horror show—the political equivalent of a villain twirling his mustache while rewriting reality. Gore says the Trump team is trying to “create their own preferred version of reality,” and just to make sure we’re paying attention, he dropped the H-bomb:
“I understand very well why it is wrong to compare Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich to any other movement,” Gore told Politico.
“It was uniquely evil, full stop. I get it. But there are important lessons from the history of that emergent evil.”
Translation? I’m not saying Trump is Hitler… but let’s talk about Hitler anyway.
Are you as tired of Democrats referring to everyone they hate as Hitler? At this point, the reference has lost all meaning:
- Grandmama didn’t give me dessert. HITLER!
- My boss made me come in five minutes early. HITLER!
- My Wi-Fi dropped for five minutes. HITLER!
- Starbucks was out of oat milk. JUST LIKE 1939 ALL OVER AGAIN!
- Netflix raised prices again. THIS IS HOW THE THIRD REICH STARTED.
- Someone cut in front of me in traffic. HITLER!
He then warned that “populist authoritarian leaders”—wink, wink—have a habit of using migrants as scapegoats to grab power. Which, of course, ties into Trump’s big campaign promise: crack down on illegal immigration. Say what you want about the guy, but it’s a message millions of Americans supported with their votes.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNELStill, Gore isn’t holding back. He claims, “And power-seeking is what this is all about,” before going full constitutional scholar with, “Our Constitution, written by our founders, is intended to protect us against a threat identical to Donald Trump.”
Identical? Bold word choice, Al.
But hey, Gore’s not out on this historical limb alone. Enter James Carville, the Democratic Party’s favorite Cajun firebrand. He came in hotter than a crawfish boil, throwing down his own comparison—this time between Trump supporters and Nazi collaborators. Yes, seriously.
Here’s what Carville had to say:
“How disgraced must these law firms feel now? How disgraced must these companies that are sucking up to him – that are giving him tens of millions of dollars for access.
Do you know what’s going to happen? Do you know how this ends? Do you know these collaborators, what the country is going to feel towards collaborators with this regime?
Maybe you need to go in history and see what happened in August of 1944 after Paris was liberated. They didn’t take very kindly to the collaborators. No. It was not a very pretty sight in the streets of Paris.”
So now we’re apparently one press conference away from public head-shaving rituals in the streets of D.C.
Let’s not pretend history’s blurry. It wasn’t Republicans who pressured social media companies to censor opinions they didn’t like—that was Al Gore’s party. It was the Democrats who forced Americans to take the COVID jab or get fired. The same Democrats who decided you should pay off someone else’s student loans so they could buy votes from freeloaders. And let’s not forget: it was the Democrat Party that threw innocent Americans into internment camps during World War II, and the Nazis publicly stated that the Democrats’ slavery model went too far.
Look, if you thought political rhetoric couldn’t get more unhinged—congrats, we’ve hit a new benchmark. Comparing immigration policy or corporate lobbying to Nazi occupation isn’t just over-the-top—it’s a masterclass in historical ignorance.
But hey, at least now we know: if you support Trump, you’re a populist authoritarian enabler. And if you do business with him? Looks like it’s time to dust off your World War II flashcards—because according to these folks, you’re starring in the Paris Liberation cosplay of 1944.
