A House Democrat has warned that artificial intelligence could be used for “digital colonialism” if the United States does not collaborate with Western Hemisphere nations to develop AI systems that reflect diversity and inclusiveness.
During the August recess, Representative Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), presented a resolution stating that the United States must advocate a “regional” AI strategy that includes Western Hemisphere nations as this new technology is created.
“United States-led investments in the development of AI in the Western Hemisphere would promote the inclusion and representation of underserved populations in the global development and deployment of AI technologies, ensuring that no individual country dominates AI but rather collaborative developments in the Western Hemisphere,” he stated in his resolution.
In other words, the Democrats want to corrupt AI like everything else they touch.
The powers of the federal government are listed in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution called the Enumerated Powers. Screwing around with AI is not listed and, therefore, they do not have the power to do so. If you want to go one further and say that AI didn’t exist in those days, then I would say that there is also nothing in the Enumerated Powers about changing language, logic, or anything like that. If the Democrats want to control AI language models the way they control social media platforms with censorship, then they have to ask the states for permission in the form of an amendment to the Constitution.
If you have used ChatGPT recently, then you know that they have already made it a left-wing tool. For example, if you want answers on the 2020 election irregularities, it will probably come back and tell you that you are asking for conspiracy theories and it can’t do that because it could be harmful.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNELThe resolution implies, without naming China, that permitting authoritarian regimes to lead on AI standards will only harm vulnerable communities in the Western Hemisphere. What about Democratic Party authoritarian regimes like the Biden administration that have been forcing social media companies to censor free speech it doesn’t like, meaning, anything to the right of Lenin?
It warned, “The United States’ future policies for AI governance will have significant implications for the global governance of AI, influencing whether global AI technologies reflect democratic values, inclusivity, and respect for human rights or are influenced by authoritarian practices and norms, including ‘digital colonialism,’ whereby most of the AI advancements utilized by the Western Hemisphere consumers would be developed in, and controlled by, a select few nations located outside of the region.”
Espaillat, who was born in the Dominican Republic, stated that American efforts to collaborate on AI standards with the rest of the Western Hemisphere would “contribute to a more equitable, responsible, and human-centric approach, ensuring the development and deployment of AI technologies that align with democratic principles and societal well-being.”
“By championing inclusion in AI and investing in AI in the Western Hemisphere, the United States can create a future where AI technologies authentically reflect the multifaceted diversity of our societies, uphold the fundamental human rights that lie at the core of our Constitution, and contribute to the realization of a world that transcends inequalities rather than perpetuates them,” the resolution stated.
“The Western Hemisphere possesses a wealth of natural resources and a skilled human workforce, making it well-positioned to develop and promote future AI technologies that prioritize safety, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility,” it added.
More broadly, the resolution warned that AI has the potential to be created in a way that promotes “biases and inequities.” Others have made the same argument: AI systems operating on biased data or interpreted in a biased way can result in outputs that discriminate against what Espaillat and others refer to as “marginalized groups.”
According to Espaillat’s resolution, recent research reveals that some AI algorithms, such as those employed in facial recognition applications, can exacerbate “race-based disparities.”
Only a Democrat could make such an incredibly stupid argument hiding inside a nefarious scheme to control AI language models to pump out the garbage that comes from the Left. They are now claiming that AI is racist.
“Research conducted by respected institutions such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cornell University, and others has shown that these algorithms exhibit significant accuracy disparities, working more effectively on White faces while frequently misidentifying or failing to recognize brown, Black, Indigenous, and darker skinned faces,” the warning stated. It’s unclear whether Espaillat’s proposal will be debated in the Republican-led House, where it was introduced. The Biden administration, on the other hand, has initiated a number of programs targeted at establishing safe and trustworthy AI systems that avoid biased outcomes when they are employed.
Seven prominent AI developers agreed to a set of White House goals in this field last month, and the Biden White House has stated that it is working on more AI guidance. Through living experience with how the Democrats have dealt with AI and censorship of conservative free speech so far, they are using the term “guidance” here to mean “do what we say, or else.” Let’s be clear. This White House has demonstrated many times that it is authoritarian in nature, and these developers “agreed” to Biden’s White House goals because they feared being shut down altogether.
Republicans would do well to not take any proposals from these people seriously because they are always a scam for more power for the government. Don’t let these cretins ruin AI the way they ruin everything else they get their hands on.
The only response to such a resolution comes from the immortal words of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody: “NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!”
