The mayor of Denver is playing a dangerous game that not only he can’t win but one that could lead to him being sent to prison. Democrat Mayor Mike Johnston of Denver, Colorado, has vowed to use police and civilian volunteers to make sure no illegal alien from Denver is deported. That includes gang members and other felons. But border czar Tom Homan is a tough nut to crack, and he could hit Johnston with charges of conspiracy, obstruction, assaulting federal officers, and numerous other serious federal felonies.
Johnston said:
“I think we are gonna continue to be a welcoming, open, big-hearted city that’s gonna stand by our values.”
“More than us having [Denver Police] stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there. It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right?” You’d have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.”
“I do not believe that our governor is going to let them use our [Colorado] National Guard at the state level,” he said. “Unless they were planning on bringing national guards mobilized from Texas or Alabama to come invade Colorado, I don’t know where they would find the forces to begin to do that.”
“And that seems to me like a very, very bad idea from start to finish that no reasonable American would support.”

“If you come for my people, you come through me.”
Homan scoffed and replied:
“Game on. We’ve got no problem going through him.”
“I’ve got 20,000 men and women in ICE who are going to do their job with no apology. Congress has enacted a law that protects this country. People need to understand… entering this country illegally is a crime.”
“Every illegal alien in this country committed a crime to get here. So they’re all criminals.”
“We’re gonna enforce the law without apology… and if any governor wants to stand in the way, go ahead and do it. We’ll see what happens. We’re not gonna be intimidated.”
Johnston’s approach, which includes using Denver’s police force and even mobilizing citizens to obstruct federal operations, has drawn comparisons to lawless sanctuary cities.
He boldly claimed that Denverites themselves would rise up to form a human barricade against federal authorities, invoking imagery of the infamous Tiananmen Square protests.
Johnston’s remarks go further, suggesting that any federal attempt to enforce immigration law in Denver would require “invading” Colorado with out-of-state National Guard units.
Mike Davis, the founder and president of the Article III Project (A3P), an organization focused on judicial matters, underscored that Johnston could face charges for conspiracy, obstruction, assaulting federal officers, and numerous other serious federal felonies.
President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for “border czar,” Tom Homan, is uninterested in Democrat politicians’ whiny bluster.

ATLANTA – A majority of Americans support the mass deportation of undocumented immigrants, according to a new Scripps News/Ipsos survey, including 25% of self-identified Democrats. The poll also found a majority are concerned that non-citizen voting will affect results of the 2024 election. Asked to choose who would do a better job handling immigrants, 44% of Americans selected President Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris (34%).
- A larger percentage of voters had a more favorable opinion of Harris (45%) than Trump (38%).
- A majority of Republicans (86%) support mass deportations, as do a quarter of Democrats (25%). Overall, 54% of voters support the policy proposal, while 42% oppose it.
- More Republicans are also concerned about non-citizens voting illegally (86%). Independents were also far more likely (46%) than Democrats (25%) to feel the same.
- A third of Americans view securing the U.S.-Mexico border as the country’s top immigration priority.
- An overwhelming majority, including 55% of Democrats, support restrictions on asylum.
- Voters couldn’t agree on Harris’ role on immigration policy, with 17% saying they believe she is responsible for securing the U.S.-Mexico border and 20% unsure.
