Isn’t it funny that Democrats only want to prosecute people for fraud when that fraud is against them? Isn’t it also funny that most other fraud committed against Democrats is committed by Democrats? In Bridgeport, CT, five people are being prosecuted for fraud, including one person facing 92 separate charges.
According to Connecticut Post, dozens of pages of arrest warrant affidavits, made public Monday, outline the disturbing allegations against Councilwoman Maria Pereira, Bridgeport Democratic Town Committee Vice Chair Wanda Geter-Pataky, City Councilman Alfredo Castillo, Councilwoman Jazmarie Melendez, and Stratford resident Margaret Joyce.
- Wanda Geter-Pataky: Vice Chairperson of the Bridgeport Democratic Town Committee, facing 92 separate criminal charges, including conspiracy to unlawfully possess multiple voters’ absentee ballots.
- Alfredo Castillo: City Council Member, charged with multiple counts of misrepresenting eligibility requirements for absentee voting and unlawful possession of ballots.
- Maria Pereira: City Council Member, facing charges of fraudulent voting and being present during the execution of absentee ballots.
- Jazmarie Melendez: City Council Member, charged with misrepresenting eligibility requirements for absentee voting.
- Margaret Joyce: Stratford resident and campaign staffer, accused of unlawfully possessing absentee ballots.
Surprisingly, or perhaps expectedly, three of the indicted committed fraud that favored one candidate and two who supported his opponent in the mayoral primary. So, the winner is the one with supporters who are better at fraud? This could lead to an entirely new industry. Major universities could offer courses.
In Bridgeport, the two competing candidates were incumbent Mayor Joe Ganim and challenger John Gomes. Ganim was originally declared the winner, but Gomes produced a video showing a woman stuffing the ballot box with tons of illegal votes. This led to an investigation that ensnared people from both campaigns.
The video on the Gomes campaign’s Facebook page shows a woman dropping stacks of ‘illegal’ ballots into an absentee ballot box outside the Bridgeport government center, where the city’s Registrar of Voters office is located.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNELThe Gomes campaign was able to identify the woman in the footage as Wanda Geter-Pataky, the Vice Chairwoman of the Democratic Town Clerk and a vocal supporter of incumbent Mayor Joe Ganim, who is seeking reelection. Gomes’ campaign claims that the video shows Geter-Pataky dropping off stacks of absentee ballots ahead of the September 12th primary.

One woman who said she used to campaign for Councilwoman Maria Pereira alleged Pereira misled voters who supported rival candidates into casting new votes, the documents showed.
Another woman told investigators Bridgeport Democratic Town Committee Vice Chair Wanda Geter-Pataky and City Councilman Alfredo Castillo brought absentee ballot applications for herself, her husband, and son to her apartment, according to the documents. Castillo told them to sign the applications without explaining any of the requirements, then returned with Geter-Pataky after the ballot had been delivered, the documents said.
“Castillo then instructed her on who to select on the ballot, which included the row Alfredo Castillo was listed in,” a 12-page affidavit for the councilman’s arrest says. “After the ballots were completed, Castillo then took the ballots and left with Wanda.”
The woman’s husband, the affidavit said, “was very specific in explaining that he, his wife and his son .. did not select the candidates on their respective ballots. He stated Alfredo and Wanda selected the candidates by bubbling in the circles on the ballot.”
The five indicted Democrats were released on promises to appear in court on March 6—a laughable slap on the wrist considering the gravity of their crimes. Will there be real accountability, or will the left’s political machine protect its own?
